No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Dunno about the second question, but I'm assuming that Drukhari is now the official name since it's in the rulebook and Index I.
Thinking about it,if anyone should kill Slaanesh off it should be Cegorach, the Laughing God
New theme music also a boxNah, if Cegorach could have killed Slaanesh, he would have done so during its initial slaughter of the pantheon rather than hightail it to the Webway once Slaanesh was distracted by Khaine.
Disgusted, but not surprisedMaybe not then, but with this new elder god on scene he might have a chance this time

New theme music also a boxOh Ynnead will almost certainly be doing the heavy lifting for Cegorach. That's probably why the Harlequins are working with the Ynnari. But Cegorach himself probably isn't going to be the one to deliver the actual killing blow.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSlaanash will be so busy fighting Ynnead that she will never see the laughing God's attack from behind
New theme music also a boxIf I could bring up the subject again, should we really be listing the Faction name changes as Executive Meddling if there is no official word on the subject? While it is most probably the true reason behind it, if there is no official statement then it is really just speculation, and I personally feel that it comes off as a little complainy.

It doesn't feel like the right trope, but AFAIK we don't have a trope for "company gives its property copyrightable names to keep from using generic names or names from other property" so I think it's the best thing we've got. Also, there's precendent for the changes with the race name changes in Ao S so I have no reason to think it wasn't deliberate. Otherwise they'd've stuck with the regular names.

That wasn't really my point, I was asking if there was any official statement as to the change being due to copyright as if there isn't then it is just speculation, however correct it is. Also, as a Executive Meddling is counted as Trivia not a trope, should it really be potholed on the Character pages (as it is on the Aeldari pages) as such things should be on the Trivia page.
There's been no official statement that I'm aware of, but I doubt GW would publicly say anything to that point. However, the point about it being trivia is sound, so I've cleaned that off the Eldar pages and updated the Screwed by the Lawyers entry on the Trivia page as that covers the changes.
Somewhat 40k related, but for my D&D setting I had come up with an idea of an orc city. Now, I've expanded on it, in that rather than being populated by the standard D&D orcs... I'm gonna make em DA ORKZ! (and since our group setting has flint lock pistols, the phrase dakka can be used)
I don't remember if the WHFB orks were like the 40k ones though... if they were, that's basically what I'm going for.
They very much were, although they generally didn't mess about with shooting much (since they didn't know how to make or use firearms) and just preferred to beat the snot out of people.
they have bows though, they're not very accurate but they pack a wallop
advancing the front into TV TropesThey also ride boars, wolves, and giant spiders instead of squiggoths.
40K Feral Orks ride boars too, although with cybernetics, and the wolves and spiders are more of a goblin thing than orcs.
I made the choice more because I've always loved da Orkz, and it's gonna be SO fun to do the voices. it's gonna be a blast to run.
Looks like they released the first 8th Ed. Errata. Skimmed it, but looks like Tau Shield Drones got the nerf bat something fierce.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.So did the Guard command squads, and I support it. I mean come the fuck on. As a Guard player I was personally offended people were running all command squad armies. WTF.
where are the cannon fodder? where are the TANKS!??!
advancing the front into TV TropesEXACTLY. If you wanna pull that bullshit play space marines. Get out of the Guard.
where are the giant artillery pieces that can blow armies off the board on their own?
advancing the front into TV TropesUnfortunately the Basilisk can't quite do that anymore because the volume of fire isn't that high. The Earthshaker just does Heavy D6 Strength 9 hits per artillery piece (albeit D3 damage), so it's best used against elite, multi-wound models.
The ol' reliable Wyvern Heavy Mortar, on the other hand, is Heavy 4D6, re-rolling Wounds at strength 4.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies. What about the Midlife Crisis Tank Deathstrike Missile Launcher?
One use only, 200" range, Heavy 3D6 weapon that only deals mortal wounds and has a 50/50 chance of causing more mortal wounds on nearby units. It still has a random launch.
