Meet the Tropers: newbie thread/introductions.

Hello, Emma!

Hello everyone!

I'm french, 17, and I'm studying to become an engineer, and as could be expected of someone who chose that subject, I'm passionate about mathematics and physics. I live in the South-west of France, near the border France shares with Spain.

I also like to play chess in my spare time, and I've played in some tournaments. I'm not very good but I've always liked playing, even if that often meant losing to more skillfull players. My other hobbies include drawing, origami, surfing, coding, and writing poetry. I'm not outstanding in any of those things, it's just activities that I like more than the rest.

And of course, I enjoy reading, watching anime, playing videogames, and roleplaying, and that is why after a long while spent lurking, reading page upon page of information about tropes, characters, settings and all the rest, I've finally decided to sign up here. I first came here because I saw the xkcd comic about T Vtropes, and it made me wonder about what T Vtropes was, so after a quick search on Google, I visited the site for the first time, and went on a Wiki Walk that lasted for about all the afternoon, and then I'd come whenever I'd feel a bit bored.

As for my personnality, I'm quite cynical, from time to time I like to spend some time alone thinking about a wide variety of ideas and events. I often appear as being proud of myself, although I have crippling self-esteem issues due to the fact that I was bullied during many years. In fact, at moments where I appear to be overly confident in myself, I'm trying to convince myself more than anyone else. But let's not let this devolve into Wangst. As, of late, I think I've gotten better on that. Finally, one of my defining traits is that I always try to use reason, and that I will often remind other people to think before they act, even when I think that they won't really appreciate the remark. I've never really understood how a human being could enjoy the pain and suffering of another human being. Well, I understand how it works, but I never really felt that way, rather, it pained me to see someone else suffering, even people I hated... So maybe it would be more precise to say that it's something I can't empathize with. Oh well, anyway, here you go.

I hope this wasn't too long. Anyway, that's about all I have to say about myself.

Hey Whyzard. I love the term Wiki walk, I really have to use it more often! What area of engineering are you thinking or going into? Or are you just generally interested in the area?

What appears to be a combination of a truck and a stage comes barreling down a...lets say empty street. Except for a few bikes. And cars. No one is killed anyway. Hopefully. The stage/truck attempts to turn at the end of the street...but then winds up steering too hard, flipping over to its side with a loud thud. Causing the lights on one side to shatter loudly, and the smoke and pyrotechnics to go off, blasting the brick wall. The arch on top of the "stage" is broken as well, the metal frame crumbling and falling to the sides, the spotlights shattering and letting out a few electrical sparks.

There are sounds coming from inside the the truck's trailer/stage...and a door on the side pushes open. A figure climbs out, coughing slightly from the thick smoke that obscures its form. The smoke is of an odd color. Dark, but not quite black. More of a...very dark, blue color, with silver specs flickering in it, and plums of pink, orange, and purple here and there. Likely attempting to imitate the setting sun...but failing due to the complexity of the chemicals. Or the vehicle crashing. Or both. Once the smoke finally clears, the figure stands up on the side of the vehicle, one hand on his hip, the other pointing out towards...well, depends on who was gathered. Whoever it is, they are under a thick suit of plate mail, the chest molded to look like a....cats face. With two pieces of shoulder armor, one piece on each arm looking like....well, the right one looks like a cartoonish rat/mouse, and the left, possibly a wolf. A cute wolf, but a wolf none the less. The knee caps also have "faces". Cartoonishly grinning skulls. Complete with irises. His boots are in stark contrast to the silly/cute decorations on the rest of his armor, the foot/toes appearing like the maw of a dragon, complete with horns on the "nose". His helmet completely hides his face, two eye holes in it for him to peer through, with two dragon wings extending from the sides of his helm. It appears he was once wearing a cape, the remains of it hanging from his back, half torn, half burnt. The color of these items is up for debate, as the smoke seemed to have stained/discolored them in a tie die of blue, purple, and pink. And a little orange.

The figure then calls out "Greetings mortals" he bellows, a bit of smoke puffing out from the front of his helm...despite there being no mouth hole. "It is I, your Future Lord Incaros! I have come from afar to claim this land as my own! And to defeat all who would dare oppose me!" he moves his hands, his palms facing upwards, fingers bent slightly upwards/inwards About this time another figure, wearing a bright blue robe climbs out of the trucks cabin (Or wherever the driver sits), the robe covering up most of its body, its face hidden by shadows. Its hands appear to be covered up by two flesh tone pink gloves. The figure looks at "Lord Incaros", before letting out a sigh "...screw it. Its impossible to get him to stop when he is like this. He'll survive. Probably." he quickly moves away from the trunk as "Lord Incaros" keeps boasting about a bright future. And...a bloody future. And a future with sherbert. Sadly, just as he gets to the Banana nut muffin future, the vehicle explodes, sending out fireworks and smokes as it does...Lord Incaros yelling loudly as he flies into the air...then attempts to continue his speech as he flies off into the horizon.

The hooded figure walks back on screen. Looks left to right, then ahead "...he'll live. Unless he dies. Anyway. Yeah. We're here now. So. Hi. Yeah. Hope no one minds the big entrance. He lieks those. But he is harmless. Unless someone gives him a gun. Or an axe. Or generally anything that can be used to kill someone that he wants to kill."

hi.

I've actually been a member of this site for like 2+ years but never bothered posting in forums or engaging in the community until pretty recently. i need a place to talk about things i care about and this seemed to fit the bill the best.

i'm an aspiring artist (though i'm pretty damn lazy and lethargic so i think it will be a long time before that dream becomes a reality), 21, and my main interests are videogames, manga and anime (seinen thuglife represent), and other stuff occasionally like movies, tv, and western animation. out of these manga is probably the one i've devoted the most time to in recent years. i'm always on the lookout for something with exceptional art and a gripping story (Berserk, Vagabond, Skyhigh, Blade of the Immortal, Bokurano, Pluto, Oyasumi Punpun, etc are some of my favorites).

I guess I'll see you guys around.

hello everyone! I am a female kiwi, currently engaged in my first year of university study.

I've been lurking around here a while, but I figured now is the time to get to know the tropers. The main reason for that is that my social circle is dismally small. I'm a bit shy :/

I'm interested in movies, TV, anime, books, webcomics and whatever really... I guess in some respects my standards are pretty high but I love exploring new genres and international film... a few examples of things(/people) I like: Welcome to the NHK, The West Wing, Pedro Almodovar, Satoshi Kon, Justified, Planetes, Stephen Frears, <Epic, the Coen brothers, etc etc
