I've listened to the radio series. With that in mind, I also think the books are the best the franchise has ever been (besides maybe the Infocom game.)
Hm. Depending on when you were in high school, you're likely missing the last three phases.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. You lucky bastard.
@Hitchhikers I love the first three books. The other two are.....eh.

9. He rocks.
Eleven, definitely. He's "my" Doctor, even if I do like nine better as a character.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Even in spite of his PTSD, Nine is the sanest of the nuWho Doctors. It'd be a tossup between him and Four, for me.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.I think, if I was able to choose, I would travel with Eleven. Or Five, but Eleven more. In any case, I'd probably be very clingy (not in a jealous way, more like a shy little girl with her older brother or father), so Eleven with his no-personal-space, hugs for everyone! attitude I would prefer. Ten would be out of the question. I don't think he'd be able to stand someone as quiet and shy as I am as a companion. And he kind of reminds me of my brother with how loud he is and that'd be a reason I wouldn't want to travel with him.
Plus I just plain like Eleven better than all the others.

Eleven, Five, Ten, or Two.
Fresh-eyed movie blogOut of the Nu Who Doctors, Ten. I feel like Nine is pretty cold to anybody who's not Rose, while Ten's a lot more welcoming to new companions. And Eleven is too manic and immature for my liking. I feel like I'd have better conversations with Ten.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Soooo. Finally caught the last episode.
...Meh. That's honestly all I've got. Series 7 has been a major disappointment so far, Brian and mystery cube invasions notwithstanding. The Ponds' sendoff was really lacking. Rory went out like a chump. Amy went out like... I don't even know what that was. All this on top of Moffat's crappy writing of women that's apparently become his norm. "Never let him see the damage" just ewwwww.
Sadly, I feel this even translates to Gold's score. Don't get me wrong, he's done the best he can with what he's been given, but I haven't heard anything particularly thrilling or moving this season.
Just... Go away, Moffat. This is one instance where I think I'd prefer the evil I don't know to the evil I do.
Rant over, carry on.

I've seen a few complaints that Rory didn't go out badass enough and it's still confusing me. His centurion memories always only come out when Amy's in trouble, a manly Taking You with Me to a world of monsters would have made no sense.
Defending my own choice of words only, my problem with Rory's departure is that one second he's standing there, the next he's gone.
And that's it for him. No montage of him and Amy living out their lives, no afterword like she got, nothing. We got some kind of goodbye for Amy; we got nada for Rory, who's just as much a companion as she was.
I didn't expect him to go out in a blaze of glory, but geez, lemme say goodbye to the guy. =/

As a nurse, I'm just glad they didn't made him a camp gay.

hashtagsarestupidSo I forgot to add the all important 'Didn't' in the above.
hashtagsarestupidCamp gay nurses are a thing?
"You may feel a little prick. Oh no I didn't!"
I'm sorry.
I think he accidentally a verb there.
If I could, I'd travel with:
- Four: he's so delightfully alien and whimsical.
- Eight: dashing and Romantic.
- Eleven: the running to the wonders of the universe really resonated with me.
I like Five as well, but his disturbing body count will probably have me dead by the first month.

"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajOh yeah, Five's companions have a habit of suffering Unpleasant Fates. So do Ten's. And ten is twice five! IT ALL MAKES SENSE!

Heart of StoneSo Fifteen's companions are probably all going to end being fed through a woodchipper by the Master.

hashtagsarestupidI'd go with any Doctor, I wouldn't be picky.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!Even the half human TV movie one?
hashtagsarestupidYeah, sure.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!Five had Adric, who died. And Tegan had a breakdown. And Kamelion who was ignored for four serials before turning evil and getting blown up. Nyssa and Turlough got off fine though.
No, Five's era had a body count for everyone else. It's only fitting that his final serial ends with Peri the only one alive in the entire thing. (And that secretary, I think.)
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Eleven's not doing too hot on the companion front either.
Although to be fair, he's only had three, and we went into this already knowing that one of them was done for.
EDIT: Five, if you count Kazran and Madge.

Heart of Stone
Funny you should say that. I've only read one or two of the books, but while I was in highschool I found a complete set of all the Hitchhiker's radio scripts. It was awesome.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that I hadn't. Because I only quoted the movie?
Besides, I'm allowed to call myself a fan of whatever I damn well please. So there. :p
Fear is a superpower.
