This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

See im if the opinion that they shouldn't have kept them somewhere they could have been stolen so easily. Keep it in a hard drive and none of this would have happened. But no, gotta be technologically illiterate and keep them in about the least secure place possible.
I'm baaaaaaackCould we possibly discuss the topic, which is to say the webcomic named The Order of the Stick?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I want to play Smite Tha Tree. Someone should try and reverse engineer a playable game from what we see in the comic here.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.I'll bet good money that Rich has already been asked for that on the GITP forums.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I smell a new Kickstarter reward.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableDude, if you can't thunderclap without a raincloud on the field, then you can't thunderclap without a raincloud on the field. Otherwise, the whole game breaks down!

"I hasten to interject that I have potentially time-sensitive data that merits immediate consideration." - VaarsuviusWell- this confirms that Vampy is Lawful Evil I suppose. I have to admit, watching him and Dorkan interact is kind of awesome.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself" First thing I thought of.
Dorukan?
Durkon, I think.
My Games & WritingAnd it looks like we've found another potential weakness in Durkula's facade.
His -5 to patience when it comes to knock-knock jokes?

The better than average probability that he will try sharing this memory with Roy and pass if off as a joke.
So, what is it we've learned about Durkula, specifically? That he doesn't understand that people change over time?
If that's the case I suppose Durkon could show him a memory of what he was like when he was younger, and convince the vampire that that's an accurate example of how he'd behave.
Interesting, also, in that a common fan criticism of Durkon is that he's a Static Character. Perhaps we're going to see some more flashbacks of how he grew into the person he is today.
Yay...just what I needed to cheer me up :D
"You can reply to this Message!"I think Durkon just figured out how to manipulate the memories Durkula sees.
so like, witnessing the memory of a dinner party where he learned to ask before helping triggers the memory of a dinner party where he learned to help before asking. different situations, linked by a really wonderful/awful pun.
...I'm saying Durkon's gonna hand out the punishment. puns of steel.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartIT might just be the flash back making me think back to the early strips, but damn, the art style has really been shinning lately.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"The idea seems to be that Durkon doesn't understand why people do what they do, only that they do what they do. Like, he sees the choices people make, but doesn't understand how a person's experiences and feelings ultimately shape those choices.
Which could lead him to do something in a new situation that it appears Durkon would do, without realizing that there are things about prior experiences that would cause Durkon to never do what Durkula thinks he would do in that situation. If Durkon plays his cards right, he could make it seem like Durkula has gaps in his memory or logic.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So it looks like this will be Durkon's Character Development then?
One Strip! One Strip!
^^ That the photos were taken voluntarily is irrelevant. The point is that the "if you didn't want them stolen, you shouldn't have taken them" argument is flat out victim-blaming. It's like if someone smashed your window and stole your computer, and then people told you it was your fault for owning a computer and having breakable windows.
This isn't the thread for discussing this in further depth, though, so I'll just link to this Cracked article, which does a nice job of explaining why the most common arguments about why it's the celebrities' faults are a steaming pile of BS, and leave it at that.
