Vader lied to him.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Oh yeah. Plot twist?
Because the villain lying to someone to manipulate them into turning against the heroes is such a huge plot twist, am I right?
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Yeah, but the people who know the truth are standing right there.
He might think they're lying.
Hell, he's being played by the GM, who goes out of his way to make unintented consequences hurt the PC's at every opportunity. So if they explain that Vader killed Obi-Wan, Fett will think they're lying. And if they don't say it for fear getting Fett mad, he'll instead get angry that they hid the truth from them.
I wonder if the EU ever dealt with political fallout from the revelation that Luke and Leia were Darth Vader's children.
She did get a whole species to ally with her because she was their Heroes child.
"Their hero" being Anakin Skywalker, or Darth Vader? It wasn't widely known that they were one and the same, was it? Really, it wouldn't surprise me if Darth Vader was practically unknown among the general public.
In the (now mostly Jossed) EU, it was established that Darth Vader was fairly well known as the Emperor's "enforcer". If I recall, they established that Han Solo actually knew of Vader before the events of the main trilogy.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)They knew him as Vader.
Vader. Turns out there was enough of his body in that metal suit for them to pick up his scent, and then recognize both his children by that scent.

And then she wound up becoming their hero for real rather than just the daughter of their hero because she discovered and revealed to them that their supposed saviors were actually dragging them through the mud and keeping them in servitude by prolonging their suffering rather than actually helping them.
It really came back to bite the Empire in the butt after that. Hard.

This subject brings to mind the second season of Code Geass. The masked protagonist leads an army of rebels against The Empire and none of them he knew was secretly an outcast member of the royal family. His army immediately turns against him when they find out he's a prince, despite that information coming from another prince who's one of their greatest enemies. If I recall, they're even willing to gun down their Ace pilot because she's willing to hear him out.
IIRC "He can mind control you if you let him open his mouth and likely had mind controlled several of your allies" were a pretty big part in that.

It's been a long time and I don't remember all the details. Still comes down to an army believing their enemy—with an outlandish story about magic—over their commander. Distrust I can understand, concern over how much they're being used and what his end goals are make sense, but they're immediately willing to destroy the literal brains and brawn of the rebellion because the bad guy said they're related.
So, in the next scene, Chewbacca isn't being sonically tortured, he's suffering from a monster of a hangover. I laughed out loud.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Does Jim's character even have a splanch? OH CRAP The original Han Solo—the one Jim killed and assumed the identity of—WAS a shapeshifter. Assuming Fett's been in contact with Jabba the Hutt, he's not gonna believe Jim's protests that he doesn't have a splanch.
Only one way to find out for sure...
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."Pretty gruesome territory today.
We were going to get here sooner or later. This version is at least a bit more toward the Black Comedy side.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh yeah, torture was incoming, and at least Vader is asking questions this time. But then there's a second round of revenge torture to come along with a little vengeful organ chop-shop.
Wouldn't Vader already have told him?
