Is there a trope for when the hero finds the quest object only to have the villain take it?

If I had to guess what was behind that far wall, I would say "Water." It's a hurry-up job that wall, not the monk's usual quality work.
But the entire room reads as a deathtrap. If Madwa wants to make a try for the lamp, I would be tempted to let her take it and see what happens.
I have thinking ahead to that grand masquerade ball.
Which will happen some day, some year upcoming, as we measure time. What costume would be right for each character. The Storm King for Martellus, of course. His ego would demand nothing less.

Was meaning as it is what the librarians want, the party members which include Hoffman and Co. If Agatha sees she can use it well it could be a battle for said MacGuffin

Eh, I've played a lot of Skyrim and by those standards, Madwa's actions are par for the course.
Also, considering her surprise, it's likely that she was either invisible or had paused time, both of which Prende could be able to deal with.
I'm looking forward to hearing some sweet exposition from Prende!

Way to go, Vi. Just goes to show: get too used to your flashy smoke knight skills, and you forget to apply the basics of the school of really suspicious bastardry or bitchiness.
Van Rijn may have been a perfect fool at the end. But he was one hell of an engineer. The Smoke Knights have 200 years on Prende. But she came out of dormancy in an instant captured Madwa and made it look easy.
Otilia is pretty bad ass too.
So, so far we've met four of the muses, right? The first two weren't very impressive, but next two more so, and there are still five to go...

She *says* that, but the muse still looks and acts like a bad-ass killing machine, and I expect she'd be even *more* so with "Von Pinn" back inside.
Her "knowledge" came from Tarvek, and he's a fount of mis-information.
As I understand it, Violetta said Otilia was more badass than she was supposed to be.

Dunno I guess that for Van Rijn in universe we could have to say:
- Absentminded Professor: To the point of triggering the Single-Target Sexuality to the muse of time near his end.
- Mad Scientist: Of course.
- Dirty Old Man
- Ahead his time.
There are other options but not so sure.

Looking back at the picture of the Muses

I agree the whale in the back looks like a more recent addition, and the whole setup looks like it's made so the lamp can shine on both sides of the wall, so I wonder what's on the other side ...
Vi probably recognized something from all the lore about the Storm King she heard from Tarvek.
I hope Zeetha and Dimo are on the lookout for Madwa. She said she was about Death and Sneaking, and they don't know where she is, she knows where they are, which is right in front of what she was looking for all along.
