Anime/Lucky Star

I cried at the Christmas episode 'cause of her. She's like a female, unmarried version of my Uncle Mike (who's pretty much the coolest vice-principal in the country, IMO).

Maybe Azumanga Daioh homage + Rule of Funny. These Widget Series usually come with Christmas Cake homeroom teachers, right? And like Yukari, Kuroi's been the gang's (minus Kagami) teacher from the very beginning.

Even though I don't like Lucky Star, I find it admirable that the show doesn't throw a stream of panty shots and jiggling boobs at us. At least, I think it doesn't. It's been a while since I saw it.

Lucky Star is like Azumanga Daioh if Azumanga Daioh were made of plastic, pandered shamelessly to the pedophiliac otaku demographic, and had no soul.

Then again, it has Anime Tenchou, which is the only thing I enjoyed abut Lucky Star. They should totally do a whole show about Anime Tenchou. I would watch the hell out of that.

Hey, I don't give a shit how bad a show panders. If it doesn't have paint-by-numbers fanservice in it, it's all right by me.

I'm with AOD on all the way on this one. Watching Lucky Star is like creeping death every second that Tenchou isn't on screen. Otaku can keep their grating little cutsey-poo fantasy girls; we straigt up rollin' with Tenchou.

At any rate, I am at the very least aware that my feelings towards the show known as Azumanga Daioh are not suitable for discussion outside of the Your Mileage Varied thread.

I am getting very sick of people bitching about the pacing. Plot is not what this show is for.

Anyway, having finished the series (and bawled my eyes out at the last episode), I have to say Kuroi-sensei, Gotouza-sama and Iwasaki are my favourite characters (I still like Minoru a lot, but he's not my favourite). I would include Konata, but honestly, that's like saying, "I like that mirror! It's got such a cute face in it! "

I never understood why Lucky Star is so "controversial". I have no idea.

I sort of watched it two times and I had the experience that watching it with company is a whole lot funnier. That being said, yea, Anime Tenchou is the best thing about the show.

You really had to see me, watching the scene of his first appearance. I laughed so hard, I couldn't breathe. My whole body hurt. Damn did I laugh.

Sebastian and Akira are hilarious too, though.

Overall, I think the show has some awesomely hilarious gags in it, but is far too boring when there aren't any gags. Sometimes I just fast-forward to the funny scenes..

What's left to say is that I feel like the only person not caring about the whole overly "moe" aspect of the show. Not even once did I think the characters were "cute/moe", but it's not like they turned me off either. I really just thought of it as comedy.

Seinfeld Is Unfunny. Need I say more?

Alright. The only thing Lucky Star really has going for it besides Kanata, Anime Tenchou and Shiraishi is the metric gigaton of pop culture references. People who don't 'get' those will find the show dull and pointless.

I personally found the references to be hilarious, especially after looking many of them up, so I liked the show.
