YMMV / We Bare Bears: The Movie

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Carries a lot of allegories to racial discrimination and persecution.
  • Catharsis Factor: Officer Murphy taking Agent Trout down by forcing a donut into his mouth, similar to what Trout had done to Murphy several times over the course of the movie, handcuffs him, and even tells Trout "Sit down and shut your donut hole!!".
  • Complete Monster: Agent Trout is the corrupt commander of National Wildlife Control who sees bears as "filthy mindless beasts". Trout has captured dozens of innocent bears and trapped them in his preserve, with the bears being left in harsh conditions and having various injuries. When Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear accidentally start a blackout, Trout has them sent to his preserve, and starts a relentless pursuit of them when they escape. Upon finally catching them, Trout makes sure they will be in separate cages just to torment them. After his electric fence causes the preserve to catch on fire, and all the bears stack up to reach Officer Murphy's helicopter, Trout uses them to reach the helicopter and tries to leave the bears to die just to satisfy his xenophobia.
  • Fridge Brilliance: It's rather noticeable that when all the bears relocate to a city that they have brighter fur and color tones. This makes sense when considering the fact they have been stuck in cages for a very long time which causes them to get dirty just like Charlie.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Pizza Rat crosses this once he rats out the bears all just to get more followers.
    • Agent Trout has crossed it before the movie once it's shown not only how badly the bears in cages are treated, but also how many bears he captured, including cubs. He crosses it further in the climax when he tries to leave all the bears to die in the forest fire.
  • Realism-Induced Horror: This is the exact reason why Agent Trout is undoubtfully the darkest villain in the entire We Bare Bears series. He is literally the embodiment of corrupt authority figures that use racial discrimination and persecution to justify their actions claiming to be for the greater good, when in reality they just want to oppress those they discriminate against and take pleasure in doing so. It comes off as no surprise that there are some people who are like Trout in real life.
