YMMV / Tsuritama

Go To

  • Awesome Art: Off-Model moments aside, this style of animation is really bright and cool-looking, Ghibli-like while managing to stand on its own, and thus-far rarely seen, in anime, at least.
  • Broken Base: What it seems to be over Natsuki's haircut from episode 8.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Urara, The human form of JFX, lives and breathes this trope.
  • Fridge Horror: Watching the opening with all the main characters dancing, after you find out what "JFX" does to its victims...? Brr.
  • Ho Yay: Where to begin? Probably in the first episode when Haru sees Yuki go past in a car and decides he's the one who has to go fishing with him. It only continues from there as he also decides they must live together, which Keito easily agrees to because she wanted Yuki to have a "flower" to brighten his days.
    • There is a short story featuring Yuki and Haru getting Locked in a Room together. Highlights include Haru falling on top of Yuki, Yuki hoisting Haru up on his shoulders and vice-versa, oh and they end up shirtless and soaking wet. And then Haru tries to hug Yuki from behind for warmth. And then their friends find them and bail them out, and the first thing they ask is why they are naked from the waist up. Screw it, this is no longer YMMV.
    • Natsuki and Yuki also grow close over time, but the Ho Yay in their relationship culminates near the last episode where Yuki says he cares about him (and Haru) while unknowing of the fact that Natsuki's standing behind a wall eavesdropping on the conversation with a obvious blush and silly grin on his face.
    • Akira seems to be a bit close with Haru, and he easily gains his friendship within a few episodes, despite Haru being scared of him previously. Akira had been assigned to watch over Haru for half a year, and is constantly defending him from Duck, not even caring that he lost his high position at Duck because he saved Haru.
  • Memetic Bystander: Ayumi-chan, the angry pink shirt guy and the angry student in Yuki's class have been getting massive amounts of attention lately.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Misaki only wants Akira for his duck.
    • EVERYONE BECOMES TAPIOCA'S SEX SLAVE.
    • As mentioned above, the angry Recurring Extra and another equally angry background character. ("I'M SO ANGRY!!!")
    • Referring to the show as the Gay Fishing Anime.
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: Haru lives and breathes this and the whole series is infected with his cheerful charm, albeit with drama mixed in especially in the second half.
  • Tear Jerker: Coco's apparent death in episode 9, along with Haru's subsequent reaction.
    • Ayumi's apparent death, except it's revealed in the next episode that he's mostly fine.
