  • Awesome Music: The anime opening, "PINK BLOOD", a beautiful song that catches the melancholic tone of the story and has the vocals of Utada Hikaru to really complement it.
    • The first closing credits song, "Mediator", is no slouch either.
  • Narm: The unfortunate side effect of calling Fushi's most dangerous enemies AZKnockers. Some spellings lose the "K" in efforts to look less like a slang term for women's breasts (and as a side effect invoke the mythical Nokk but similarities between the two are coincidences at best), but the name still comes from being ones who "Knock on the doors of paradise, seeking its destruction" so there's little way to avoid this. On a similar front for western audiences, Gugu's name can cause chuckles for being the most popular onomatopoeia for infant noises.
    • There's also the unfortunate matter of the name "Nokkers" both looking and sounding like a particular, racially charged curse word that starts with the letter N...
    • The voice acting for Fushi in the anime English dub when he first says “Thank you for the food”, in a stereotypical dumb “Which way did he go, George?” voice.
  • Signature Scene: The first episode/manga for showing just how much the Nameless Boy suffered.
