- Die for Our Ship: In the case where Nadia isn't a complete jerk to Titeuf, some people didn't react too well with the introduction of Ramatou, since Titeuf begins to forget his crush on Nadia because of this new character.
- Squick: With all the Toilet Humor and other disgusting humor, readers may gets squicked multiple times by each comics.
- Tear Jerker: This story, drawn by Zep, puts Titeuf in a situation of a refugee (in response to the refugee and migrants' crisis in Europe). Because he finds himself in a situation of war, it also doubles as Nightmare Fuel.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Some people felt like this about the latest books, since some think that it doesn't have the same "spirit" as the first ones, and especially for giving to Titeuf a new love interest : Ramatou.
- Uncertain Audience: The early albums, especially. See below for details.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The later albums, arguably: American audiences might be surprised that such a series that near-constantly touches controversial subjects is mainly meant for pre-teens or even children. Even the slightly Bowdlerised animated version, or other media, may not be totally immune to this.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The black-and-white first entry, even by European standards, was obviously never meant to be for children, and was more about adult themes from a child's point of view. Because of Misaimed Fandom and the Animation Age Ghetto, the author decided to make the series Lighter and Softer and more kid-friendly as time passed.
