- Cliché Storm: Often cited as such by its detractors, even in comparison to other isekai works. The main detractors of MORBOE state that the series (or at least its Compressed Adaptation, which was only 12 episodes long) is the culmination of every trope that every other fantasy light novel series from The New '10s has used, which are subsequently spun into the worst possible thing:
- The protagonist's harem has three little girls, complete with Big Brother Attraction.
- The female characters' reasons for liking the main character are extremely flimsy. Most female side characters fall in love with him immediately upon meeting him.
- Every other male character exists to be either a) a bit-part Hate Sink to get called out by the protagonist, b) a side character that won't steal the spotlight or attract any of the protagonist's love interests, or c) a villain who is simply killed off when he is defeated without a thought instead of a defeated female villain who will immediately join the harem instead.
- The protagonist's constant usage of Giving Radio to the Romans practically gives no thought as to how it could possibly cause any negative consequences in the future.
- The protagonist didn't gain his tactical or political talent by hard work; instead, he came into the world with the unfair advantage of his modern technology that allowed him to become an Instant Expert at those things. Despite this, everyone praises him for his intellect even when he's only teaching them about basic things like military strategy, crop rotation, and paper.
- To make matters worse, the protagonist's Informed Flaw that is supposed to ground him is that he considers his unfair advantage of modern technology and knowledge of the future "a cheat" like an In-Universe Peggy Sue. The problem is it means that combined with the constant Character Shilling above, his flaw ended up being interpreted as not taking credit about how great he is.
- The Compressed Adaptation begins things from the middle of the story with little explanation to who the characters are or how they got here, and then Timeskips several years at the halfway point.
- Designated Love Interest: Mitsuki. There is little backstory in the light novel that might justify romantic attraction between Yuuto and Mitsuki, and even less in the anime. Yet, Mitsuki is the girl Yuuto keeps holding out for, no matter how often his harem in Yggdrasil throws themselves at him, and said harem has very attractive women, without exception.
- Special Effect Failure: The animation of the anime adaptation is subpar and the art is amateurish. Fight scenes that are supposed to be important consist entirely of still frames or low grade CGI. The character designs are generic, and combined with poor sound balancing and a cheap soundtrack that resorts to pitch shifting just to make a track more exciting.
