YMMV / TF2 Analysis

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: The characters often talk of covering each other's backs. They mean it in a protecting sense, but since most of them are horses...
  • Awesome Music: The remix of Seven Nation Army used throughout the "Seven Nation Army" multi-parter.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The "Non-Milk Substance" Joke. Turns out it's Soy milk.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The opening to "Scouting Things Out" reveals Silver Quill to be a demon and the one responsible for the portal to Tartarus hidden under the trap door in Dr. Wolf's office. However, no-one other than the audience finds out about this, and this aspect is never brought up outside of the episode.
  • Ending Fatigue: The final battle in "Red vs Blue part 6" is over only halfway into the episode, the rest dedicated to the anti-climactic reveal that Racebest and Saberspark wanted to kill each other over a poster and Dr. Wolf rambling about how he wants to help ponies even though that's his most obvious trait.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • In "Seven Nation Army Part 3", Keyframe remarks that the robots have worse aim than a drunken Stormtrooper, to which AnY says "challenge accepted" and starts chugging down alcohol. Stormtroopers were specialist soldiers in the German Army during World War I.
    • Royal Rumble's titular battle being a rock, paper, scissors game makes sense when you remember that Team Fortress 2 actually does have a rock, paper, scissors taunt.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • The stinger of "There Can Only Be One..." has Dr. Wolf and Firebrand talking about how pain and death have no consequences in TF2, with the doctor saying that notion is ridiculous. "Seven Nation Army, Part 2" introduces the respawn generator... which is immediately destroyed.
    • In her debut episode, KP admits she doesn't know much about the game. During a podcast released in 2021, KP revealed that this lack of knowledge contributed to her lack of involvement with scripts, which ultimately led to her being removed from the project.
    • From "Seven Nation Army": "There is nothing to fear; ToonKritic is here!" Given his Real Life skeletons in the closet...
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • "Emotions on the Battlefield, Part 2", wherein Thespio stresses out over his planned proposal to his girlfriend, Midnight Sonata. He is then comforted by Dr. Wolf, Josh, Keyframe, Lightning Bliss, and Toon, who all give him encouragement and support. The video ends with Will's Real Life proposal to Katie, which she accepts!
    • SEGASister's reason for working with AntonyC
SEGASister: If I work for him, your safety is guaranteed. He can't touch you, or at least he shouldn't. I'm doing this to keep you safe, to make sure he doesn't harm a single hair on your head... Voicey, you are my life. I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to you.
Voice of Reason: [has a Tearful Smile on his face] Thank you.
    • "The Rescuers: Six Feet Under" reveals that Dusty Katt is a really nice guy when off-the-clock.
    • The reason why Jasper and Thespio keep trying to get the pyro goggles off Eli during "Green Inferno"? Because Eli, killing machine from another team or not, is their friend. Once they finally do get them off, Eli is overjoyed and bearhugs Thespio.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • From "Mercenary Melodies", Voice claims that a new Sam & Max game is coming out to distract Jasper at one point. Later that year, Sam & Max: Freelance Police got a remaster released, and Jasper wouldn't let Voice hear the end of it when he found out.
    • Aramau cameos in "Tf5 Analypsis Anorgy". In her first scene, she holds up a sign reading "Don't get any ideas, this is just a cameo", clearly meant to tell the viewers that no, she's not joining the series. However, she would later join the series for real in "New Opportunities (Part Two)".
  • Narm: At the beginning of Red vs Blue part 3 Dr Wolf stares dramatically off into the distance while the 2 teams squabble with each other as if it's a massive tragedy even though stuff like this happens every episode.
  • Seasonal Rot: The episodes following Seven Nation Army don't follow up on any of its reveals with the stagnation of the ongoing plot drawing criticism, even if some of them stem from a few cast members getting fired. The overuse of reference jokes, reused sound effects, and quality of editing going downhill don't help either.
