YMMV / Supernatural S 04 E 16 On The Head Of A Pin

• Creepy Awesome: Alastair, Marlon Brando accent and all, is exceptionally menacing and creepy in this episode.
• Ho Yay: There was a little before, but the Ho Yay between Dean and Castiel turns up to 11 in this episode.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
  • Anna starts to shape up into an interesting character in this episode, complete with Action Girl moments, a Ship Tease with Castiel that could lead to a love triangle with Dean and some interesting character development. But one of the good angels had to go, apparently.
  • Averted with Castiel, who was supposed to die in this episode (and perhaps even before this one depending on the version of the story) but writers recognized that he was an Ensemble Dark Horse and kept him around, essentially giving him the story they had planned for Anna.
  • Uriel is actually quite a complex villain, who seems motivated by anger at their absent father and affection for his long-lost brother Lucifer. Given what we learn about God and Heaven's angels in later episodes, he could have been a very rich and interesting antagonist. Uriel and Castiel, after all, have shades of Lucifer and Michael in them, just like Sam and Dean.
  • Pamela is a likable side character and could have been useful for plot purposes, given that she's psychic. Plus, Castiel was around and could have healed her, including the eyes he burned out.
