YMMV / Super Godzilla

• Awesome Music: The game has a pretty good soundtrack but Bagan and Battra easily have the best themes in all the game.
• Breather Boss: Mecha-King Ghidorah if you fight him as Super Godzilla is the easiest boss in the game. You have more health than him, his attacks do damage comparable to what he did as normal King Ghidorah, while all of your special attacks do more damage than his.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Bagan only appears at the end of the game, but being so powerful that it takes a Super Mode even for Godzilla to defeat him made him very popular with those who played the game with many wishing he would appear in the films.
• Game-Breaker: Super Godzilla. Super Godzilla's health is equal to Bagan's, which is higher than any other boss in the game. Enemies and hazards on the map no longer hurt him. This leaves the UFOs and Mothership UFOs as the only thing besides bosses than can hinder him, and they can easily be taken down by Super Godzilla's charged punches, which actually kill the former in a single hit leave the latter damaged enough that one special attack will kill it. Against bosses, the damage they dish out is greatly reduced while Godzilla's skyrockets, and his charged punches can be held until the enemy attempts the slam attack, which will hit the enemy and cancel their attack. This negates a large chunk of their damage, even against Bagan, though against him Super Godzilla is more of a necessity than an asset.
• Goddamned Boss: Battra. While he goes down in just a few hits and his attacks don't do much damage, he flies around all the time making him hard to hit, and avoids all attacks other than the super atomic breath, which is difficult to charge with him bumping into you so much. And after you defeat him, you learn there's another one which you have to go blow up before it hatches from its cocoon, otherwise you have to do the fight all over again.
• It Was His Sled: Bagan is the Final Boss of the game, and Godzilla gains a Super Mode to face him. Bagan's existence is a surprise but since this was his only appearance it's impossible to bring him up without mentioning him being the final boss of the game. Likewise Super Godzilla is revealed very late in the game, but along with Bagan it's the most well known part of it.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Some people are willing to sit through this game just to see how powerful Bagan really is, as well as the titled Super Mode for Godzilla.
• Memetic Mutation: "Go ahead and destroy the financial district Godzilla. Make the people happy"^Explanation A fake gameplay screenshot featuring a human character commanding Godzilla to destroy Tokyo's financial district made rounds on Tumblr for portraying the monster as an anti-capitalist figure.
• The Problem with Licensed Games: Most will agree the game controls well enough, the music, graphics and sound effects are top-notch, but the steep learning curve and needlessly confusing gameplay has been a major turnoff for some people.
• Scrappy Mechanic:
  • The system for fighting monsters single handly turns people off this game. Instead of simply executing special attacks, Godzilla has to walk up and punch the enemy, then back and wait for one of his attacks to appear, which is determined by how long you wait. This means using Godzilla's stronger attacks is typically a bad idea as it gives the enemy a chance to attack and interrupt the entire process.
  • Bosses can slam into Godzilla, which cannot be dodged. Likewise, their fighting spirit rises at random and their special attacks can't be dodged either.
  • A number of diehard Godzilla fans despise the fact that the title character actually loses health when destroying buildings, this was another reason for the game's poor reception.
• That One Attack: Biollante's acid sap is extremely powerful for the point in the game in which you encounter her, and is basically her only attack besides just ramming into you after destroying her feelers.
  • Mecha King Ghidorah's taser attack if facing him as standard Godzilla. Bagan's energy beam is the only attack which is more powerful than it.
• That One Boss: Biollante is easily the hardest boss for many who have played the game. She is fought before Godzilla gets an HP upgrade, so she has more health than him. Once her vines are destroyed she only uses her powerful acid spray special attack which does significantly more damage than any attack used by any previous boss and most fought after her. She is also immune to Godzilla's body slam attack, which she counters, which is the most damaging special attack that can be setup without using much time and also renders the option of using a random special attack a bad idea.
  • Many others will argue Mecha-King Ghidorah is a close second if you fight him without transforming Godzilla. He has the most HP of any boss next to Bagan, making for a very long fight. His special attacks do more damage than when he was King Ghidorah, if the player takes too long setting up an attack then Mecha King Ghidorah will use his taser attack, which does more damage than any attack in the game next to Bagan's Breath Weapon.
