YMMV tropes for Son of Sparda D×D:

  • Captain Obvious Reveal: Kokabiel and Bluehide actually being Modeus and Vergil respectively was very obvious for many of the readers, and the writing didn't do much of anything to try and hide it. It's even lampshaded by Dante just how obvious Vergil's case was.
  • Crazy Is Cool: Dante's just as much of this here as he was in the games. You'd have to be this trope to take on someone like Katerea Leviathan with a loaf of french bread.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: A lot of the humor, mostly from Dante, is so over-the-top, offensive, and ridiculous that it zooms right back around into being absolutely hilarious.
    • Rias considering Dante a cancer that must be erased being a result of an extreme case of Disproportionate Retribution. Dante's crime? Buying a priceless figurine before she could. Even funnier is that he didn't even know it was that valuable and was using it as a nightlight!
    • Dante getting extremely drunk in the middle of Riser's wedding ceremony, rambling about the different days of the week, and telling God and Jesus to fuck off is so absurd that he may as well be taking the line and using it to floss his teeth. Even better, when Issei arrives, he starts acting like he was never drunk. In other words, he was faking it the entire time to PISS. RISER. OFF! Refuge in Audacity doesn't even begin to describe it.
    • Dante almost got his organs harvested by Youkai. When Dante escapes and realizes he doesn't have any money to get into Kyoto, he actually considers going back and selling his organs since they grow back anyway.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Raynare after she switches sides. She's as much of a jerk as she was previously, but not only is she made aware of how low she is on the scale of Super Weight compared to everyone else, her past with her father also comes up and reveals a lot of her deep-rooted issues. Said issues are brought to the forefront later and end with her father beating her within an inch of her life. Even with her personality and past actions, it's hard not to feel at least some sympathy for her.
