YMMV / Rayman: The Animated Series

Go To

  • Designated Villain: Inspector Grub serves as the main obstacle for the heroes throughout the series, but at the end of the day, he's only doing his job, and it's entirely possible he doesn't even know about how abusive Rigatoni truly is.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Despite not appearing in any other Rayman media to date, Lac Mac, Cookie, Betina and Flips are all fairly beloved in the fandom and have gotten their share of fanart.
  • He Really Can Act: Billy West actually pulled off Rayman's voice pretty well, even if his accent occasionally changed.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Grub calling Rayman and his friends hoodlums at the end of "No Parking".
    • Billy West would later play another Rayman character, Murfy, in the third game.
  • Memetic Mutation: People tend to poke fun at the way Rayman says the word "car" ("CAAAH") in "No Parking", thanks to the accent Billy West uses for him. In fact, Rayman's Brooklyn accent in the series in general is prone to light ribbing.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The main consensus. It has some funny moments and gorgeous visuals, but none of the characters other than Rayman are very interesting and it is nothing like the games.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Some (if not most) did not like how distilled this show was compared to the games.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Admiral Razorbeard, the main antagonist of Rayman 2 and one of only two characters to actually come from the games, only appears in one episode where he acts as little more than an incompetent lackey to Rigatoni, shows very little of his canon personality and never gets to do anything of note for the series' run.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Rayman universe is absolutely rife with potential for an animated series, but it wasn't utilized properly due to how little in common the show has with the games.
