  • Awesome Music: Ursula's singing of "Fathoms Below" in the tavern. Sure it's magically enhanced but it's still nice to listen to.
  • Broken Base: Ursula's backstory split viewers. Some fans loved it, and others found it too much like Ariel's. And there's the matter of her redemption. Too Easily Forgiven or did she make up for it?
  • Franchise Original Sin: At the time Once Upon A Time had not redeemed a villain in a while (not since Regina, which had been built steadily over Seasons 2 and 3) - with Greg, Tamara, Peter Pan and Zelena all dying at the end of their arcs (as well as Rumple slipping back into villainy). Ursula was a little Easily Forgiven for her redemption - but it did get justified from a story point of view (she gives the heroes information and helps them out to balance things, as well as leaving to go back to her own world). This was before numerous other villains would get Easily Forgiven outright, with their previous villainy being completely ignored.
  • Narm: Ursula asks Hook if her happy ending is in his ship. As if it's a physical thing.
  • Narm Charm: Rumple's interrogation technique on August? Holding him over the fire knowing his nose will grow if he lies. It's equal parts silly and clever.
  • She Really Can Act: Merrin Dungey had some Replacement Scrappy heat - as fans thought she was completely replacing Yvette Nicole Brown as Ursula - and she was neither as imposing as Maleficent nor as fun as Cruella. But she proved her talents here in this episode.
