YMMV / My Hero Academia: Abridged

• Can't Un-Hear It: Inevitable.
  • Considering Yamato voices Deku. It didn't take long for the jokes about Kirito.
  • Similarly, hearing Takahata101 voice All Might has led to jokes about Cell Might or All Might secretly being a fuckmothering vampire.
• Crosses the Line Twice: A drunken All Might throwing Shamu into space was already funny if dark, but Shamu flying past Izuku's window makes it absolutely hilarious.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: The teacher in the first episode, mostly thanks to being voiced by PurpleEyesWTF (who's no longer as active in the abridging community).
• Heartwarming Moments:
  • Crapsack World as this version is, almost everybody shows concern about Izuku after he breaks his limbs using One For All. Also special mention to drill-hair guy who is the only one among the potential students cheering him on when he goes to punch the giant robot.
  • Being a Sir Swears-a-Lot aside, Uraraka is still very much a Nice Girl who is willing to help out Izuku when she can.
  • All Might pretty much forces the UA staff to accept Deku into the school at gunpoint. Considering he's such a Jaded Washout, it's genuinely touching that he's willing to fight for the kid's entry.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In the preview for episode 2, All-Might attacks an orca when he mistakes him for Gang Orca. Not that long afterward, the bonus panel for My Hero Academia Chapter 280 has Izuku swimming to what looks like Gang Orca, only to be an actual orca instead.
  • A series where people care about fame and fortune than actually doing hero work. There's something about this concept that seems familiar.
• Squick: All-Might implies in Deku's acceptance letter that Principal Nezu is a pedophile. Considering his species, this is lessened by the fact he only lives 7 years max ... assuming his quirk doesn't mess with that. Although there still is Beastiality to consider.
• Tear Jerker:
  • In this world, nobody really cares about being a hero. They just care about fame and fortune, it's just another way of being some pop icon.
  • All Might's PTSD flashback to his previous apprentice's death could qualify—especially since the boy's father was present at the time.
  • Eraser Head looks like a hobo because in this series, he actually is one, thanks to his wife divorcing him because of his workaholism. Now he lives at the school and has to steal wet wipes to bathe.
