- Angst? What Angst?: Kathy quickly shakes-off her Attempted Rape, because it might ruin the party.
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Carolyn, the woman that was the recipient of the wiener joke, has a random topless scene during the pool party, while offering food to Billy that comes out of nowhere and doesn't have anything to do with anything else in the movie.
- Ensemble Dark Horse:
- The turtle-like aliens are among the rare bright spots in the film.
- Eddie Deezen is always a pleasure to watch.
- Fetish Retardant: The sex scenes.Servo: "Urgh! Nature videos of big spiders going at it are more appealing."
- Hollywood Pudgy: You can tell it's The '70s when Franny, a girl who is maybe 5 pounds overweight, complains she's fat and homely, when she's nothing of the sort.
- Memetic Mutation: Nerf Blaster of Ultimate Destruction.
- Retroactive Recognition: This was the first acting role Eddie Deezen ever took.
- Special Effects Failure: Stop-motion animation (here used for the aliens) rarely ages well. The aliens look good by themselves, but when actually integrated with the live-action footage, they don't quite blend in and look as if they were simply plastered over the shot. Even then, the stop-motion is still the best SFX, if not part in general, of the entire movie! Something even critics agree on.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Dr. Mellon is one of, if not the only truly likable character in the film and is played by the great Roddy McDowall to boot, so of course he dies after a few scenes,
- Took the Bad Film Seriously: Roddy McDowall takes his role as Dr. Mellon, turning in a quiet, but kindly performance.
