YMMV / Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Daileon's theme, "Chou Wakusei Sentou Boukan Daileon", and the opening itself.
  • Evil Is Cool: Satan Gorth, mainly for being a frigging 50 foot tall, eldritch Darth Vader. Mad Gallant is also pretty cool for his badass design and how much of a formidable rival he is to Juspion.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: While it remains well-liked in Japan (quashing rumors that Juspion had bombed in its own country), its popularity also stemmed from the unlikeliest places nevertheless:
    • The fanbase from Brazil is really huge, as the series, along with Dengeki Sentai Changeman, sparked a tokusatsu boom in that country's late 80s/early 90s TV. Those who watched it during its broadcast take it as a very special memory. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, it was finally re-aired on TV to fill the Sunday Morning timeslot, the ratings were better than expected and it frequently trended on Twitter. It got a comic adaptation back in the 90s (closer to the American format than to manga) and another one in late 2020, this time in manga style.
    • In addition to Brazil, France and Indonesia loved it.
  • Memetic Mutation
    • In Brazil — The "translation" of Daileon's theme song became a huge internet meme: "O CARA TUSSIU!! OOO CARA TUSSIU!!"note
  • Narm:
    • When Ejin dies, Juspion makes a righteous speech about how he's going to defeat Satan Gorth for good... which is framed inside a little iris shot with views of his glare and clenched fists that looks kind of silly. Also distracting is that the real tragedy of the scene isn't explored by the narrative — the one who ended up killing Ejin was Juspion himself when he knocked Satan Gorth back without realizing he was holding the injured old man who then falls to his death.
    • Super Satan Gorth is effortlessly defeated because a baby cries on his ears.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • Early in the series, a microwave fires four pancakes right on Juspion's face. A hand is clearly seen on-camera tossing them.
    • On episode 32, Juspion tricks Chip into getting hit by the flamethrower of one of his own robots... but due to reused footage, a second Chip can be seen standing behind the helper robot for several seconds.
    • When Satan Gorth transforms into his Super form, a picture of his armor overlaid into the scene plops off either side of the screen in halves like a cracked egg. It's too comical for the tone of the scene.
