- Awesome Music: As further proof of the game's nature as a Cult Classic, there's the game's gorgeous soundtrack. Since it was one of the launch titles for the GBA, it's mostly chiptune, but done very well at that. Unfortunately, it was unavailable on YouTube for a while... until a YouTuber known as Mariobro4 came to the rescue and provided the game's entire soundtrack.
- Perhaps the most notable themes are Magma Castle, Cyber Field and Time Trial Results.
- Ice Paradise is also very good, being a nice chiptune rendition of The Skaters' Waltz by Émile Waldteufeul.
- Sky Bridge is wonderfully upbeat and catchy, especially in its Final Lap variation.
- Poppin Beach is a pleasant and relaxed Latin chiptune rendition of Senorita Rica's El Pais del Sol that works great with the course's tropical surroundings.
- Cult Classic: It is an all-around competent and enjoyable Mario Kart clone with plenty of references to classic Konami games, but sadly, not a lot of people care for it. To give you an idea, the cameos from the rare Assist Character power-up went unmentioned in virtually the entire western internet for a decade after the game's release.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Dracula, Gray Fox and even Vic Viper from Gradius appear in playable form.
- Nightmare Fuel: Remember the Sonic drowning music? Imagine a mode called Chicken Race, where you're on a long straight road, your kart goes forward by itself, and the only action you're allowed to do is a single chance to break, as close as possible to the nearest pool of water. Good. Now imagine a fitting kind of BGM... et voilà.
