Values Dissonance: While it's obvious that the show merely wanted to portray Andersen as playful and affectionate, and that there's nothing bad actually going on, the fact that he refers to the approximately-12-year-old Stine as his "little girlfriend" and kisses her comes off as rather creepy to some modern viewers.
The prequel movie
Inferred Holocaust: At the end, Andersen decides to try to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Considering that she's never mentioned in the original series, we can infer that it didn't go well, or that something went wrong later.
