• Author Avatar: The protagonist Hideo Suzuki◊ resembles that of series' creator, Kengo Hanazawa◊.
• Moe: Hiromi. She's just so sweet and shy! Even while infected!
• Memetic Badass: Kurusu. The original one. It is through his influence that many of the NEE Ts, shut-ins and other survivors not only survive but band together to try and fight against the zombies.
• Narm Charm: Don't let the utterly ridiculous shapes and expressions of the zombies discourage you. With enough Marionette Motion and violent personalities to boot, the zombies will definitely spook readers whenever they show up.
• Slow-Paced Beginning: The author spends the first 200 pages (from the first chapter of Volume 1 up until the penultimate chapter of that volume) describing Hideo's life and state of mind (and the prelude of the zombie apocalypse). After that, the story's pace picks up very quickly.
• Squick: As a long-running manga about zombies, this series is bound to have a lot of it. Special mention goes to Tetsuko apparently being on her period as a zombie, Iura ripping off his penis while masturbating, and the zombified pregnant woman dragged along by the baby halfway out of her vagina.
