YMMV / Homunculus

• Awesome Music: "Trepanation" by Millennium Parade, which was used for both the opening and closing credits of the live-action adaptation, is a rather avant-garde yet engaging art-pop number.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Nakoshi jacking off onto his resignation slip.
• Ho Yay: Nakoshi and Itoh. Except not really because Itoh is a trans woman.
• Narm: The final volume's climactic scene of Nakoshi shagging the daylights out of a female version of himself has as much potential to be horrifying or hilarious as dramatic.
• Nausea Fuel
• Nightmare Fuel: Many of the homunculi shapes.
• Squick:
  • Nakoshi eating his own semen, and Yukari drinking her blood.
  • Later on, when Nakoshi does his own trepanation, and sticks his finger in the newly formed hole, all in a public toilet!
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The live action version changes a number of things around after the second half of the program, including the source of Itoh's insecurities and more importantly Nakoshi's entire backstory including his deteriorating mental health in the finale. Some fans were not pleased with the outcome.
• Tear Jerker: The epilogue.
