YMMV / Hazbin Hotel S1E6 "Welcome to Heaven"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • When Lute calls Vaggie and Charlie's relationship "blasphemous", is it her being a homophobic asshole, or is it because she views a relationship between a Fallen Angel and a demon princess to be disgusting? Adam's comment on it and Lute's later comments about Angel Dust seems to imply the former. Even then, the dialogue implies Lute is more disgusted by Angel's addiction and general promiscuity than his actual orientation.
    • Adam is shown getting utterly pissed when Emily and Charlie point out that he's not much better than most of the sinners. Does his rage stem from the fact he doesn't want to be compared to people he views as prey to slaughter, or does it stem from the fact that he knows they're right and he doesn't want anyone else to realize that fact?
    • After Sera calls Adam out for his unnecessary cruelty by the end of the trial, he tries to laugh the situation off, but then quiets himself when sees the unamused reactions from the courtroom. Does he feel actual admonished by Sera's disapproval and realize he may be pushing his own luck? Or he is reacting with more annoyance by the fact that the rest of the Angels apparently don't seem to share in his sense of humour when comes to killing Sinners?
    • Is Valentino actually into waterboarding as a "kink", or is he actively trying to hurt Angel because Angel’s attitude is changing and making him harder to abuse and control after he opened up to Husk? Valentino’s reaction to Niffty helps make it more ambiguous.
    • Did Sir Pentious suddenly gain a crush on Cherri Bomb or was he always at least attracted to her? One of his responses to her telling him that they're going out to a club is to say that he "never thought this would happen", implying that there was already a bit of an interest on his side.
    • Furthermore, is Cherri truly not interested in Pentious and hiding that from him in order to have fun at his expense, or is she just playing hard to get and trying to indirectly make him confident enough to actually ask her out?note  Her reaction to Pentious' kiss in episode 8 makes this seem like the latter.
  • Alternative Joke Interpretation: When Cherri sarcastically quips "wonder why" in regards to Charlie's comment about Angel never bringing his friends to the Hotel, is it a joke about how Angel thinks his friends would find the Hotel lame or that Angel doesn't have any friends besides Cherri that don't already live at the Hotel?
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Angel finally standing up to Valentino, after the latter tried to take advantage of Niffty, and then getting under his skin by pointing out a flaw in his contract is highly viewed as a small yet also big victory over the moth pimp. This is also acknowledged In-Universe, as both Husk and Cherri are very proud of him.
    • Charlie and Emily’s Triumphant Reprise of “Hell Is Forever” is considered by many fans as the giant, much deserved middle finger towards Heaven’s (more specifically Sera and Adam) hypocrisy.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Mixed with heartwarming. 'Whatever It Takes' specifically Vaggie’s line: “When I saw your face, you made me feel like a stranger in a brand new place,” really was literal. And her line: “And it felt so good to be understood” reflects how Charlie was the first person in her whole life who treated her with kindness and unconditional love.
  • I Knew It!: Vaggie being a fallen angel and former exorcist was a wildly popular fan theory prior to this episode, going all the way back to the original pilot, four years before this episode came out. This episode confirmed that Vaggie is indeed a fallen angel.
  • Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: Sera is a delusional and hypocritical seraphim who is responsible for the exterminations, but at least she's very friendly and polite antagonist who genuinely cares about Emily and her fellow Angels, and she's even loved and less hated by fans. While on the other hand, Valentino is even way more despised and hated than Sera by hitting Angel Dust in the face just for insulting him and standing up to him for Niffty, and fans will never stop hating Valentino for Angel Dust.
