YMMV / Harvey Street Kids

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The show isn’t too subtle about the dangers of climate change, taken up to eleven with the episode "Beyond Thunder Dot".
  • Broken Base: The change in personalities for the main trio (Dot, for example, being a genius neat freak and Audrey being an adrenaline junkie) has put some people on edge. The addition of modern elements, like smartphones, memes, and modern slang has also irked some. On the other hand, others acknowledge that the girls' personalities from the comics were rather one-dimensional and thus some changes were necessary.
  • Cliché Storm: Most of the episodes are simple retreads of plots done by other shows. Not that it makes them any less entertaining.
  • Creepy Awesome: The Bow, who seemingly lives alone in a dilapidated house, can merge her eyeballs into one, and can squeeze through tiny cracks due to her lack of bones.
  • Creepy Cute: For all her being a Creepy Child, the Bow comes across as adorable for some.
  • Diagnosed by the Audience: Richie Rich is a curious case. He has very few emotions, has a hard time identifying social situations outside of media, and programmed a robot to collect childhood happiness without thinking of the consequences (i.e. forcing said children to do what makes them happy to exhaustion), which could be diagnosed as autism.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Bobby the Elder is popular mainly due to being voiced by Roger Craig Smith.
    • The Bow is also popular for her creepy personality, seemingly supernatural abilities, and, of course, for being voiced by Grey Delisle.
  • Les Yay:
  • Meme Acknowledgement: Richie notices Casper looks kind of familiar...there's a popular urban legend that Casper is the ghost of Richie Rich...of course the pay-off is that he looks like Hot Stuff, the little devil, who's a hot sauce mascot in-universe.
  • Moe: Pretty much all the characters, but Lotta, being an Adorkable Lovable Coward with a love of bunnies, definitely fits this the most.
  • Nausea Fuel: Pinkeye crying in "Campfire Weekend." Dot even lampshades it.
  • Questionable Casting: Bobby Moynihan as Casper? A child ghost is being played by a man in his forties? Okay, granted, this wasn't the first time Bobby Moynihan played a child.
  • The Scrappy: Richie Rich isn't well liked by most of the fandom due to his obliviousness about acting like a real kid when Casper would've been a much more interesting character to explore this dynamic with. Also Fru Fru is the resident Alpha Bitch who is also rich and yet she doesn't really interact with Richie nor does she give him tips on how to interact with "the common folk".
  • Squick:
    • In "Raccoon Hoarder Picture Show", Audrey unashamedly admits that she got her toothbrush from the dump.
    • In "Dottle Rocket", Dot reveals that she still has all of her baby teeth along with her permanent teeth, which repulses Lotta.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Casper only shows up in one episode, despite him having far more potential than Richie Rich as being the kid who never had a childhood, due to being supernatural and coming from another dimension.
  • Ugly Cute: Pinkeye may have a disgusting eye affliction that gives him his nickname and mold his boogers into elaborate sculptures, but his knowledge of classical music (on par with Dot's) and love of dancing may make him this.
  • Unexpected Character: Richie Rich and Casper the Friendly Ghost. Hot Stuff and Baby Huey also get to cameo. Wendy the Good Little Witch even gets a mention in the Season 4 finale.
  • The Woobie: Tiny, due to his insecurities about his height.
