- Ensemble Dark Horse:
- Ples has a massive fanbase despite having considerably few lines in the comic. Tess confessed that he's afraid Ples won't live up to everyone's expectations when he's formally introduced.
- Fan Nickname:
- Zombie/Narrator/"..."/Gallahad/Ulysses/Odin/etc for, well, the narrator, who forgot his own name. He's credited in the cast page as {...} and as "DOTDOTDOT", as seen here.
- Connie for Conrad, which made its way into the comic.
- CA$H MONEY is the name of the cashier at Ace's Liquor.
- Fine-ass for Finas because damn.◊
- Heartwarming Moments:
- In and out-universe. When Hanna and Zombie begin to discuss Zombie's possession, Zombie states that he can't remember why paper cranes are significant to him. Hanna responds by deciding to try his hand at the 1000 Origami Cranes, which Zombie responds to with what might be a very slight smile. But then the truly Heartwarming part comes in when the fans decide to make their own 1000 cranes.
- Speaking of Hanna and Zombie's friendship, this Christmas strip is simply wonderful.
- And then the one after that is equally heartstring-pulling.
- Hollywood Pudgy: Some of the fans like to poke fun at Finas (and sometimes Lamont) for being "fat." Lampshaded by Tess here◊.
- Ho Yay: You make a cast that consists of mostly men and see what happens.
- Not only that, but all of said characters tend to form dynamic/entertaining/intriguing relationships with one another as soon as they meet, if they haven't already gotten some connection between them. Zombie quickly becomes protective of Hanna after seeing what kind of trouble the guy gets himself into constantly, Conrad and Worth are guys that yell at each other every time they meet (not to mention the bit about the blood), Worth and Lamont (and Hanna) already know each other, the former two seemingly in a vitriolic relationship, as far as we know Finas and Casimiro are attached to the hip, and Hanna seems to worry over and care about nearly everybody (though Zombie does a bit of this as well), and basically ties the whole cast together.
- Hanna/Zombie is very close to being canon.
- Hanna's meeting with the ghost in chapter two has Zombie cuddle Hanna. Then he carries him bridal style.
- Zombie hangs around in Hanna's room while Hanna sleeps.
- Not to mention the new year comic which is basically Hanna asking Zombie if he's sticking around just because he feels obligated to.
- Zombie seems to have a habit of making breakfast for Hanna.
- Their relationship is constantly referred to as a "bromance". One notable instance is Tess's Valentine's Day cards.
- Hanna reacts very passionately when Zombie is referred to as a "thing."
- Hype Aversion: Some fans tend to be somewhat...fanatical. It doesn't help that even long before the hiatus, the update schedule was infamously erratic and completely bonkers, plus Tess tended to leak future characters before they canonically appear.
- Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Who isn't Conrad paired with?
- Nightmare Fuel:
- Zombie being possessed by Lee.
- Heck, just Lee. His creepy font/speech especially.
- "Careful, Casimiro. You're losing your humanity"
- Hanna's scars. Seriously, what the hell?!
- Ples' house seems be on its way to coming this, considering the first thing they find inside is an icky combination of oil and blood all over the floor.
- Ples' own body issues, anyone? Especially after we get to, as Zombie puts it, "really know him," the tick tocks in the house can get a liiittle unnerving when you think about too much.
- Overshadowed by Controversy: Nowadays, it's impossible to talk about the comic without mentioning how Tess abandoned it without warning and disappeared from the internet for four years, causing fans to spread false rumors about legal issues with the publisher and hold online vigils out of fear he had died. There was also much fan anger over the fact that Tess never produced the artbooks and custom sketches for the comic that people had ordered, and the publisher had to refund them.
- Tear Jerker: Veser's Inelegant Blubbering. Made worse by him seemingly trying to cover it up all the time. :(.
- When he's not busy being Nightmare Fuel, Lee is this. Even the humourous Alt Text on the cast page can't think of anything funny to say about him.
- This exchange between Zombie and Lee in particular.
- The first look we get of pre-death Zombie is at the bottom of this page. The picture is described as "And somewhere, someone has this in their wallet to remember someone really important to them". Now keep in mind that Zombie can't remember any of his life. (For some added Fridge Horror/ Tear Jerker, consider that the outfit Zombie is wearing in that picture is identical to the one he wore when he was killed. So unless Zombie had a Limited Wardrobe, there's the good chance he died not long after that picture was taken.)
- When he's not busy being Nightmare Fuel, Lee is this. Even the humourous Alt Text on the cast page can't think of anything funny to say about him.
- The Woobie: Most of the cast.
- Veser especially. To quote Tess here:Veser, I’m sorry your life sucks, I plan on making it worse.
...you’re welcome.- He also qualifies as a Jerkass Woobie. Veser isn't a bad kid, he's just in a bad situation. "A really, really bad situation."
- Veser especially. To quote Tess here:
