YMMV / Guru Larry and Wez

  • Broken Base: The Running Gag involving Peter Molyneux. Some love it and will even click on a Fact Hunt video just for the gag, while others are sick of it and think Larry harbors a serious grudge. Not helping matters is that Larry will sometimes joke about more personal things concerning Molyneux, like his hairline. Sure enough, Larry eventually phased out the running gag because the joke has ran its course for the viewers.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Larry himself is this in regards to Channel Awesome as a whole, thanks to the reasons under Memetic Troll.
  • Heartwarming Moments: In Rob Boor's documentary "The Downfall of Change the Channel", he revealed that Larry was one of few people who checked in on him when he was going through a very dark place as a result of the drama surrounding the moment. The irony being that one of the only two remaining Channel Awesome producers did so, while the former producers did nothing.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In his "4 Times Shigeru Miyamoto Was an Asshole" video, Larry mentions the cancellation of Star Fox 2 as an example. A year after the video was made, the game was officially released on the SNES Classic in its completed state.
    • One of the first Fact Hunt videos was "4 Games Cancelled for Stupid Reasons". He says it's only four because he couldn't find a fifth. Years later, this was the first Fact Hunt video to have a sequel in which Larry not only found a fifth, but a sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth as well.
  • Memetic Mutation: Larry's campaign to become the last man standing at Channel Awesome following its late March/early-April 2018 controversy led to it being dubbed #ChannelLarry.
  • Memetic Troll: During the collapse of Channel Awesome in April 2018, Larry deliberately chose to stay until the end as a jab at how the channel did nothing to promote him despite joining so early on, while also making fun of them constantly on Twitter. People watching the incident unfold were quick to worship Larry as a massive Troll. Under normal circumstances, Channel Awesome would have fired him for badmouthing them, but the fact that they have allowed him to stay just goes to show you how desperate they were for content. He finally announced that he "left" the channel in February 2024, when the website in fact ceased to exist and became a redirect for Channel Awesome's YouTube account.
