YMMV / Grandma's Kisses Dub

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Pretty much every line in the dub serves no purpose other than to be randomly obscene.
  • Contested Sequel: The same creators made a "The Fry Cook Games" follow-up several years later. Overall, it feels a bit like it's trying too hard.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: A Gag Dub that's extremely offensive and cusses every other word? Not that funny. A Gag Dub that's extremely offensive, knows that it's extremely offensive, and leans into it with dumb voices, barely related tangents, nonsensical humor, cusses like a sailor having a bad day, and one that came out in the early to mid 2000s and has the feel of a kid just having fun on their microphone? Incredibly funny, but in a way that will likely have you feeling a little bad for laughing.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Despite how funny SpongeBob declaring Alec Baldwin being an asshole when he's in the 2004 movie voicing Dennis, this line gets darkly relevant when Alec shot a cinematographer during a set of the upcoming film, Rust in 2021.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Ho Yay: Lots of it. SpongeBob and Patrick are implied to have a gay relationship, as SpongeBob refers to Patrick as a "gay fat starfish".
  • Memetic Mutation: Has become quite popular on the internet due to it being a hilarious raunchfest altogether. It's especially subject to YouTube Poop remakes and sampling in "edited" videos of cartoons.
  • Quirky Work: A very surreal episode dub that follows no plot and contains subversive, off-topic jokes at every second.
  • Sequel Displacement: Greenday also made dubs of "Ripped Pants", "The Fry Cook Games" (as mentioned before) and the bus scene from Hey Arnold! The Movie. They all follow the same pattern of humor, but "Grandma's Kisses" is the one that stuck.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Who wouldn't have wanted to see the second half of the episode dubbed?
