YMMV / Firewalker

Go To

  • Narm Charm: The various and obvious flaws of the movie and its production value are part of why it's so entertaining, even if by itself it's still a serviceable adventure comedy.
  • Serial Numbers Filed Off: Befitting a Cannon Films production. What makes Firewalker still stand out is that it's an openly admitted rip-off of Cannon's own adaptation of King Solomon's Mines, with few dashes of other popular things. Roger Ebert lambasted the movie for being just an assembly of scenes and ideas borrowed from other movies and then sloppily reenacted.
  • Signature Scene: During Batman Cold Open Max breaks a glass bottle of Perrier by clenching his hand over it to get free from his bonds. The scene, along with a specific shot from it, has been spoofed countless of times since '86 - despite having nothing to do with the plot proper.
  • Values Dissonance: Partricia brings Tall Eagle, an elderly native American living in a reservation, a bottle of whiskey, to make him talk. This was iffy even by the 80s B-movie standards, but probably got a pass given Golan's infamous lack of tact.
  • Vindicated by Cable: While it was a moderate success at the box office (by Cannon Films standards, that is), the movie only picked up a true following and then wider audiences thanks to the endless TV reruns.
