• Fanfic Fuel: That this work and Reborn to Master the Blade have their Animated Adaptations aired in the same season, and both having recurring characters named Lieselotte who can be counted as Defrosting Ice Queens and Ladies of War invites crossovers the two.
• Ho Yay: Josephine's Excessive Mourning over Elizabeth makes quite a few readers wonder if the former has any one-sided crush towards the latter, since Elizabeth is clearly into August.
• Woolseyism: Endo and Kobayashi's commentaries occasionally contain words of Japanese origin that Siegwald doesn't understand, including the commentators' surnames, and the word Tsundere they used to describe Lieselotte. In Japanese, when presented in Siegwald's point of view, those words were presented as katakana^note Although "tsundere" is already in katakana which implies Siegwald treats those words as foreign language. Certainly, this won't work in English, so the translators used modified (but phonologically similar) spellings of the words instead: Siegwald heard Endo as "Endoh," Kobayashi as "Kobayashee," and the word "tsundere" as the French-looking "tsun de rais." The anime's English subtitles go even further: yuri becomes "yeux lis" to Siegwald.
