YMMV / Doctor Lalve

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Demo Scottish Epicness. Considering Lalve, you'd expect a mishmash of songs for the theme of a Super Pro Class, but with a little help from Antoine Delak, this just knocks things out of the park combining bagpipes and an epic rock number for a fittingly absurd theme for the equally absurd Super Pro Demoman.
    • Also made by Delak, Fantastic Spy Unleashed, combining Yello's "Oh Yeah", "Shake That Ass" by Splack Plack, "U Got That" by Halogen and "Big and Chunky" among other things to make the perfectly horrendous and amazing to hear theme song for the Engie-slaying, box-disguising, absolutely fabulous Super Pro Spy.
  • Ho Yay: The Engineer and Soldier gets some of this. In Fabulous Spook, the RED Soldier catches the RED Engineer in his arms after he slips on a Banana Peel and endearingly tells him he loves him. In Wait for more sale, the BLU Soldier lifts and holds the RED Engineer in a romantic fashion. However, in both cases, the Engineer tells him he's ugly.
  • Memetic Molester: The G-Man, already not helped by his original lines in which he sounds like a Soft-Spoken Sadist, but it's deliberately used in the intro of Fabulous Life 2 to turn him into a sexual predator, where he attempts to have sex with Gordon Freeman, unable to move. It's then taken further in Gordon meets a curious Gentleman.
    • Done with any Spy you'll find in these videos, moreso played for Black Comedy rather than the genuinely creepy G-Man after them, as their moments of you know what mostly contain snorting, offscreen implications, and knife-dicks.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • The Tiny Desk Engineer has become a very popular joke within the fandom, with many other fan GMOD or SFM videos having the Tiny Desk Engineers being Easter Eggs to spot in the background.
    • Thank's to their similar in style machinima's, it's common to see people comparing Lalve to the late great kitty0706, to the point people believe he might be Colin's heir, reincarnation, or even Colin secretly working under a new moniker.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • With the characters tending to have exaggerated facial expressions, some of them may come off as creepy, such as the wheezing Soldier or the Super Pro Engineer.
    • In Inside Fortress, the mercenaries's minds have their own emotions as a parody of Inside Out, except the Pyro, whose mind instead is a Blank White Void, where they're sitting on a swing seat. While it's already chilling enough, there are also some terrifying split-second images popping up before the Pyro disappears.
    • Wizard School ends with the Spy realising that his hands are covered in blood and his classroom is empty, and thus implying that he murdered his students, he is so horrified that he asks to himself "What have you done?!"
    • Gordon meets a curious Gentleman is quite unsettling with the G-Man breathing heavily and arousing Gordon Freeman, making it uncannilly look like he's about to rape him.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Despite being mostly Played for Laughs, Quite Among Us, parodying Among Us, has the mercs getting killed one after another and are scrambling to find out who is the culprit in nearly each of their meetings. By the end of the video, the two remaining characters, the Soldier and the Engineer, gets both killed by an unseen character or entity.
  • Spiritual Successor: Lalve is widely considered to be this to the late kitty0706. A running joke in the comments is he's either him in hiding, his heir, or his reincarnation.
  • Tear Jerker: In A Touching Story, which spoofs A Christmas Carol with the Spy in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, the Pyro (as the Ghost of Christmas Future) shows that the ill son of the Engineer (as Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit, respectively) has passed away, and to add salt to the wound, his wife is also divorcing him, and his other children all die from a sudden heart attack, though the entire scene is arguably Played for Laughs.
