YMMV / Delhi Safari

Go To

  • Americans Hate Tingle: The film bombed in the U.S. box office and has a 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, yet the movie received much critical acclaim in India, and even won the Nation Film Award for Best Animated Film.
  • Anvilicious:
    • One of the animals the protagonists run into is a tiger who's hiding from the humans since, according to him, they killed all the tigers in the area for sport. It's pretty preachy.
    • The bat in "A Mighty Forest There Is Not" is just stating how humans have chopped down the forest, tore up the desert, polluted the water, etc.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Bajrangi, the hot-headed, badass, Crazy-Prepared monkey who's always scheming and waving his guns at everyone. Despite being a Jerkass for two-thirds of the film, he is one of the most popular characters due to his hilarious antics, his crazy cool nature, his dialogue scenes with Alex, and Govinda's impressive voice acting for the character. Not to mention that he goes through Character Development and becomes much nicer near the end.
  • He Really Can Act: Tara Strong, Tom Kenny, and Brad Garrett all deserve credit for their genuinely heartfelt performances in the English dub. Troy Baker's performance as the tiger isn't too shabby either!
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: With its gun violence, occasional jokes only adults will get, Sultan's death, and dark, realistic themes, Delhi Safari flip-flops between being a kid's movie, and being an animated movie only adults should see. And the fact that this was also endorsed by a certain horrible animal rights extremist organization, it's no surprise here that this would happen.
