YMMV / Deagle Nation

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Some of the music that Jace plays in the background is pretty awesome, such as this.
  • Broken Base: The Reveal that Deagle Nation was just an elaborate hoax has made the fanbase very divisive. Some of them still enjoy the content and think that the fact that it's fake makes the whole thing even funnier, but others feel that Jan and crew went too far with it.
  • Diagnosed by the Audience: Everyone, really, but Jace got the most speculation. He's shown signs of autism (which his performer, Jan Rankowski, actually has), paranoid schizophrenia, narcissism, among other things. Tyce also had some hints at various traumas stemming from the death of his younger brother at the hands of an unjust police officer, or as Tyce himself would describe it, "Yeah my bro was basically a white Trayvon Martin, and I'm going to get the cops back bitch."
  • Draco in Leather Pants/Misaimed Fandom: As Jan mentioned in the Final Livestream, despite his attempts to make him as reprehensible as possible, some people still ended up finding Jace hot.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • From Jace's livestreams of The Sims 3, we have Soap the female "Parkour Wolf." She is supposed to be Jack Stryker's faithful companion, but instead she ruins his furniture and then bites him. When the house burns down due to Jace's idiocy terrorists, Soap escapes the fire in a boat that she somehow got (likely due to a glitch caused by Jace's constant use of cheats).
    • Tyce Andrews is one for the creators of the hoax. During the livestream they did out of character, they said that they both found Tyce more interesting than Jace and wish they could've done more with him.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: There's a character from The Sims 3 that strongly resembles Jace, Hunter Cottoneye. He has a stubble and dark glasses, surrounds himself with military paraphernalia, and has a similar personality to Jace (in that he's neurotic, insane, and mean-spirited). This Sim even makes a cameo in Jace's childhood re-enactment.
  • It Was His Sled: The reveal that Deagle Nation was all a hoax would be a major spoiler, except news of it spread like wildfire (this was during the Wupocalypse scandal, so journalists were quick to document this). It's now unlikely for newcomers to stumble across this series without soon discovering that Jace and friends are all just actors.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Jace is basically the quintessential douchebag, but a lot of his problems aren't necessarily his fault. Yes, he's a dick 99% of the time, but it is also apparent that he is the way he is at least partially due to growing up as a mentally unstable person stuck with a crazy, borderline-abusive fundamentalist mother who clearly has no idea how to deal with him. It's not hard to feel just a little sorry for him sometimes and wonder how he'd have turned out if he'd been in more capable hands during his childhood.
  • Memetic Mutation: "Fucky you!" Or the longer version "Guck you duck you fucky you!" note
  • Memetic Troll: Jace's supposedly Loyal Animal Companion Soap (see Ensemble Dark Horse).
    • Tyce's constant use of the phrase "#TYCED" also counts.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • During Tupacalypse, when Eli experienced a brief moment of lucidity and was almost talked into going to the US embassy, Jace threatened to tell the authorities that he was there to assassinate the Palestinian prime minister. It was seen as one of Jace's biggest dick moves (and pretty dumb, considering Jace was on record sending Eli on that mission in the first place).
    • For Tyce, assaulting an old man at the YMCA, leading to a failed intervention and his second removal from Deagle Nation. It's also suggested that he intended for Eli to die in Israel.
    • Gail crossed it when it was revealed that Jace had tried to get legitimate help for his mental issues, but was stopped by her. Many followers began to legitimately hate her when they learned that she was actively preventing Jace from getting better.
  • Nausea Fuel:
    • Eli "recycling" his own semen.
    • Tyce attempting to start a "Jenkem Farm." Jenkem is fermented human waste that is said to produce a high when the fumes are inhaled.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Some of Jace's more extreme weed-fueled freakouts during streams lapse into this.
    • Jace's absolute euphoria at his mom's death in The Sims 3 during Weekly Livestream 10. He can barely contain himself, and it becomes somewhat disturbing.
    • Jace lapsing into the persona of "Commander Stryker" during the Blazeing Zone Live stream. Though it's not without comedy, it's also a bit unsettling to watch what basically amounts to a man having a live mental breakdown.
  • Strawman Has a Point: When Reuben claimed Jace was breaking the law for lying about military service, Jace brought up the Stolen Valor Act, which only covers those who lie to claim veterans' benefits. Jace claiming to be a marine/soldier/Navy SEAL, surprisingly, was legal.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • A lot of fans admitted they felt bad for Jace when he would mention that he missed having Tyce as a friend.
    • Jace re-enacting his childhood in The Sims 3, where viewers got an idea of how terrible it was. The ending in particular has an upsetting Cerebus Retcon:
Jace (in tears): Press 1 if you think I should kill my dad... I'm aiming the barrel at my fucking faggot dad... PRESS 1!
    • The reveal that Deagle Nation was a hoax was this for some, who were very disappointed that Jace and friends were not actually real people.
