These are what we call the 'YMMV items.' Things that some people find in this work. We call them 'your mileage might vary' because not everyone sees these things in the same way. This starts discussions in the trope lists, a thing we don't want. Please use the discussion page if you'd like to discuss any of these items.
Beam Me Up, Scotty!: A widespread belief is that Chappelle popularized the idea of "purple drank" by mocking the street drug (a mix of soda and codeine-containing cough syrup) in a stand-up joke as containing "sugar, water, and purple." The actual routine had in fact referred to grape drink and was humorously using the differences between soft drinks and fruit juices as an allegory to compare the disparity between (mostly white) high-income and (mostly minority) low-income American lifestyles.
Unfortunate Implications: Part of the reason why Chappelle quit mainstream comedy was a fear that he was drifting towards this and that people were laughing at his jokes for all the wrong reasons.
