YMMV / Care Bears: Unlock the Magic

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • The incredibly catchy theme song has an amazing 80's synthesizer vibe that not only fits perfectly with the show, but the franchise as a whole. All while being about sharing and caring. Also, it works as an Expository Theme Tune, explaining the show's premise in just under 30 seconds. Caring is the key...
    • The background music used in the show as a whole isn't slacking either. David Padrutt and Michael Seifert did a great job finding the right musical tone for the show.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Dibble, full stop. Either you find her incredibly cute and an interesting addition to the show that helps spice it up, or you find her incredibly annoying and useless.
  • Cargo Ship: Kind of inevitable when they made a whole music video with Bedtime singing a love song about how much he loves tacos. There was also another with Funshine and ice cream. Most infamously though (and it is treated this way as explicitly as possible in canon), Grumpy and the Cloudseeker, a vehicle that the Care Bears use to travel around the Silver Lining that he built. The former acts really.... attached to the latter at certain points in the series, and the comics basically take this attraction up to eleven.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: There are a few ships that the fans prefer, most of them being Ho Yay.
    • Share and Cheer.
    • Either Grumpy and Funshine, Grumpy and Good Luck, or all three.
    • Cheer and Grumpy also has a few fans.
    • Wish and Tenderheart, due to both of them seeing themselves as Team Mom and Team Dad to the bears respectively.
  • Foe Yay Shipping: Some people ship Grumpy with Bluster's Beleaguered Assistant, Robbie. Especially after "The Grumpy Effect".
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Grumpy and his Whiffle daughter.note
    • Grumpy X the Cloudseekernote
    • Bedtime being obsessed with tacos.note
  • Moe:
    • The Bears look incredibly adorable in this incarnation, thanks to the art style.
    • The Whiffles are even cuter!
  • Retroactive Recognition: Patrick Pedraza (Good Luck Bear) and Brenna Larsen (Share Bear and Dibble) are better known for their roles as Wanderer/Scaramouche and Navia respectively from Genshin Impact.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: A sizeable amount of Care Bears fans have had this impression, from the Earth Drift to the completely new concepts and focus for the series, and that Bedtime Bear now has a British accent.
  • Unexpected Character: The finale sees No Heart and Beastly reappear after over 30 years of being absent in the franchise.
