The Thanos Quest is a limited series by Marvel Comics, written by Jim Starlin with art by Ron Lim and John Beatty, and color art by Tom Vincent.
After being resurrected by Death, Thanos sets off to acquire the Infinity Gems in order to wipe out half of the population of the universe.
The events of the series leads directly into The Infinity Gauntlet.
The Thanos Quest provides examples of:
- Actually a Doombot: Thanos sends a robot duplicate of himself to fight the Grandmaster in a dangerous virtual reality game.
- Combat Pragmatist: Thanos in his battle with the Champion of the Universe. Thanos provoked the Champion, and made him accidentally destroy the planet they were fighting on in the end, which left him helplessly floating in space.
- Cool Chair: Thanos' space throne is capable of travelling through both space and dimensions.
- Manly Tears: Thanos at the conclusion of the story after realizing his plan to win Death's love has backfired.
- Meaningless Villain Victory: Thanos gets all the Infinity Gems, only to find out that Death still refuses to talk to him because with his new powers he's not her equal but her superior.
- The Quest: Thanos's quest to acquire the Infinity Gems.
