- Alternative Character Interpretation:
- Is Caillou really as immature as he seems? Or does he act childishly because he doesn't want to have to work his way through life? His father ordering him to get a job (only for Caillou to threaten him into letting him go job-free) supports the idea that there's really nothing wrong with Caillou developmentally, and thus making it easier to root against him.
- In the current final episode, Boris lets out a Big "YES!" when he sees Caillou get hit by a car, then does a Big "NO!" and rushes to his son's side, frantically asking if anyone got the car's license plate. Was this panicking a sign of Boris' genuine care for his son coming back to the surface, or was Boris more concerned about the car driving away from the scene because it meant he couldn't profit from Caillou's injuries?
- Catharsis Factor:
- After all the shit Caillou put Daddy and the other characters though, it was incredibly satisfying watching him get hit by a car and end up in a full body cast at the end of "Caillou In Quarantine."
- Although it was only a dream, Boris reaching his Rage Breaking Point, pointing a gun at Caillou, and the snot dying of a heart attack was very satisfying.
- Fridge Brilliance: If Boris was abused as a child as Thanksgiving seems to imply, that might explain why he came across as coddling in the Caillou series proper (at least in terms of this canon). After all while not universal, it's not uncommon for some parents that were victims of child abuse in the past tend to try to give their children the childhood they never had, and in some cases overcompensate in the process.
- Jerkass Woobie:
- Boris certainly qualifies. He may be pretty harsh, but it's quite understandable given that he has to deal with a son who's an abusive sociopath.
- Rosie too. She has a bit of a temper and acts standoffish towards others, but her attitude makes sense given that she grew up with an absolute monster for an older brother.
- Moral Event Horizon: Caillou crosses it in "Caillou Goes on Vacation," when he stabs a man's eye after he had thrown sand in it earlier. Up until then, his actions had been seemingly empty threats.
