  • Adorkable: Nonny. While he is not smiling a lot, he is an intelligent personality, and the most polite, smart and mature member of the group. In fact, he easily has the most fans as well.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In "The New Guppy", Gil runs into a baby shark. Nearly 3 years after that episode aired, Gil would have a run-in with another baby shark.
  • Memetic Mutation: The "Outside" song became a popular video to send to people on Twitter, telling them to go outside as they spend too much time online, especially in regards to Dream SMP stans.
  • Only the Creator Does It Right: Many fans who loathe the final two seasons will say that the show prior to its initial cancellation was generally better with Jonny Belt and Robert Scully due to actually having an original formula with an original plot with unique characters.
  • Seasonal Rot: As a result of Jonny Belt and Robert Scull leaving the show to work on Butterbean's Cafe, some fans absolutely hate Seasons 5 and 6 for its complete change in format. This change also meant that Mr. Grouper was Demoted to Extra, while several fan-favorites (such as Avi) disappeared completely. These seasons' extreme comparisons to The Backyardigans didn't help matters, with fans accusing Nick of trying to recapture the energy and spark of that show to a new generation of children.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: When the show was Un-Cancelled, some viewers despised the new lengthy story format and preferred the original sketch format that stuck with the first four seasons, claiming it to just be The Backyardigans, but underwater.
    • To a lesser extent, fans were baffled to see Mr. Grumpfish make an Art Shift to completely 2D in these two seasons.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: A prominent criticism of Seasons 5 and 6 is how they are essentially trying to recreate The Backyardigans with Bubble Guppies characters.
  • Unexpected Character: Absolutely no-one was expecting SpongeBob SquarePants to make a cameo in "Trick or Treat, Mr. Grumpfish!", especially since Stephen Hillenburg was against the idea of SpongeBob crossovers.
