- Awesome Music: The Sega CD version has some brilliant CD-based music that invokes the feeling of Mortal Kombat, while the SNES version has a more relaxing feeling in its music while keeping up with the intensity of fights.
- Best Known for the Fanservice: Foxy Roxy, the only female fighter in the series, is by far the most popular character of the game. The vast majority of fanart is of her, and most sprite sites usually only offer her sprites and nothing else...not the other fighters, not the title screen, not even the backgrounds!
- Heartwarming Moments: Foxy Roxy's motivation for fighting in tournaments. She donates the prize money she wins to humanitarian efforts.
- Older Than They Think: This relatively little-known game predates Bloody Roar, another Anthropomorphic Animal Fighting Game, by years.
- Popular with Furries: As one might well expect, this game was one of the early cornerstones of the Furry Fandom. Most because of Foxy Roxy, the only female character.
- Spiritual Successor: The app game Smash Champs, which is something of a Lighter and Softer Fruit Ninja style fighting game. It still has a similar plot line, some similar characters (notably, the sole female character in both games is a fox, in both the literal and figurative sense), and even the Plot Coupon are similar (an invitation letter, although it's to Dali Llama's fighting tournament in Brutal, and to train at the sensei's dojo in Smash Champs).
