YMMV / Billy the Heretic

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The author really wants to convince people that Jews are scum and anyone that's not white is inferior.
  • Bile Fascination: The main reason people read is to see bad art and caricatures with high levels of racism and antisemitism.
  • Confirmation Bias: The author demonstrates an understanding of the fundamentals of humor, but the content of the "jokes" ensures that they'd only be funny to a white supremacist.
  • Designated Hero: Billy is supposed to be likable, but he comes across as a spoiled little brat with neo-nazi views.
  • Designated Villain: Adam, Billy's adoptive father, is "guilty" of the following: donating money for AIDS drugs in Africa, supporting LGBT rights, supporting interracial marriage, providing a luxurious life for his son who hates him, and believing in equality. Since the comic shameless expouses white supremacist and white nationalist views, these are all painted as being bad and degenerate.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Billy himself has a very uncomfortable resemblance to mass shooter (and white supremacist) Dylan Roof.
    • The comic's description as "the white nationalist's Dilbert" hits a bit more accurately after Dilbert creator Scott Adams got his comic removed after making racist remarks against African-Americans.
  • Nausea Fuel: One strip involves Billy getting a hamburger that has a used bandage on it.
  • Offending the Creator's Own: Even some people who are anti-semitic and white supremacists are turned off by the comic’s terrible art style that’s akin to a 12-year-old’s doodles and how very little pages there are.
  • Pandering to the Base: Despite some of the more insidious strips, the author says he doesn't hate Jews and non-whites. Either this is a lie, or he's making the comic extra hateful to appease his white supremacist sponsors.
  • Rooting for the Empire: Good lord, the main character is explicitly a spoiled white supremacist, borderline neo-nazi. How could you possibly root for anyone except the "villains"?
