YMMV / Animat Planet Show

Go To

  • Bizarro Episode: Bush Almighty. An episode which is completely in English with no Romanian in it whatsoever (except for the subtitles) and deals with American politics instead of Romanian politics.
  • Can't Un-Hear It: As explained on the Divertis YMMV. Once you hear the voices the group provides for the politicians, you won't get used to their real voices.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • One episode has a parody of the Romanian folk song "Pușca și Cureaua lată" (the Shotgun/Rifle and the broad belt) sung by Năstase, Iliescu and Geoană. When Geoană starts singing it drives the other 2 to suicide. At one point Năstase tries to shoot himself but he fails. In 2012 Năstase attempted to shoot himself after he was convicted for corruption.
    • In "Bush Almighty", Putin threatens Bush that if he won't share his Godly powers with him he will start another Cold War. Now the modern political climate has been described as a new Cold War.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The Rocky parody ends with Geoană defeating Băsescu and cheering his victory only to learn he didn't win and it was just a dream. This is more or less what happens 2 years later during the presidential election.
    • In the King Lear parody Vanghelie tells Geoană to watch out not to " fall asleep in power only to wake up in the opposition".
    • Another episode features Năstase as a snake in a cage which causes Gina to think he has been arrested. In 2012 Năstase will be sentenced to jail.
  • Ho Yay: In the Greek Mythology parody Boc, Iliescu, Tăriceanu, Vadim and Markó were fighting over the bone. Then Voiculescu (as Cupid) makes them all fall in love with each other.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most people watch the show only for the political parodies.
  • Memetic Badass: Băsescu due to his portrayal on the show. He would usually be portrayed as a powerful enemy that the PSD-PNL-PC Alliance have a hard time defeating. Especially as his alter egos Superbăse, Băzeus and Băsman.
  • Periphery Demographic: Despite the show being a political (and social) satire created specifically for adults it was still watched by kids. Probably downplayed though, since it had an AP rating, which is the romanian equivalent of PG, though AP can be less restrictive than PG due to Romania having a different view of what is acceptable and not for a young audience.
  • Shallow Parody: Some of the parodies, such as the Rambo IV one, have barely anything to do with the actual movie, or the Star Wars parody, which had a four-headed alien monkey thing as one of the antagonists.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Since the show is basically a political and social satire from mid 2000s, pretty much all of the references are dated by now. Unless they are familiar with 2000s politics and pop culture, new viewers won't understand a thing.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Thanks to the Animation Age Ghetto the show was also watched by kids. However the Animation Age Ghetto was one of the main reasons for the creation of the show. Because cartoons are usually seen as silly and childish in Romania so the team used this to mock Romanian politicians and society. In fact the characters even Lampshade the fact that they are "Cartoon Country".
