  • Crosses the Line Twice: the Front celebrates Izuku demolishing Endeavor and telling the Commission off. That's one thing. They then decide to send him a "Thank You" gift. That's another altogether.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In-story example. Two events, the Class 3 Fiasco and the murder of Eiko's parents, are talked about and were both caused by the Front. Chapter 22 explains what the Front was trying to achieve both times:
    • The Class 3 Fiasco wasn't just about crushing Class 3-A and 3-B. It was also meant to crush Izuku's spirit, something that worked flawlessly after the Commission drove Nezu to expel him.
    • Eiko's family wasn't targetted for no reason. Eiko is actually a recruitment target that the Front would really like in its fold. They were hoping her time in the streets would weaken her spirit enough that she would be willing to join them to escape precarity. Instead, Eiko heard about the Foyer and succesfully got there, rebuilding her life and nursing a grudge that made it so hell would freeze over before she joined the Front.
  • Squick: people's reaction to Bakugo masturbating in reaction to Izuku fighting the monster of Tsugaru Straight is... not positive to say the least.
  • The Woobie: Courtesy of their Dark and Troubled Past, more than one of Izuku's students quality - and Izuku himself can be considered one.
    • Eiko is the Iron kind. Both of her parents were killed by the Front and her last memory of her father is Toga drinking his blood. She spent the next five weeks in the streets, surviving from begging and pickpocket while in a near-constant state of starvation before overhearing a discussion about Noraneko Foyer. In desperation, she journeyed from Tokyo to Nishimeya in the hopes of finding a haven. For all the pain of her past (she still has nightmares about it), she is determined to become a Hero and is working hard to achieve her goal, and has found a new family in the residents of Noraneko Foyer.
    • Akira is also the Iron kind. His parents are drug addicts who once had a very bad trip that caused their Quirks to go haywire, accidentally blinding the kid in the process. Having no next-of-kin to take him in, Akira was sent to Noraneko Foyer and spent an indefinite amount of time genuinely blind until Izuku taught him to use the sensory aspect of his Quirk to move around, which greatly relieved him. While Akira wants to become a Hero, he still hates drugs with a passion, and sensing water doesn't Always make for a lack of sight.
    • Akari is the Stoic kind. On the outside, she is a perfectly normal and well-adjusted girl who enjoys sunbathing and drawing and wants to become a teacher like her surrogate father. On the inside, this is a girl whose powerful Quirk drove a cult to kidnap her when she was five and held her captive for the better part of a decade, until Akari had a Heel Realization and managed to escape with Izuku's help. Her young age at the time of the kidnapping means her memories of her family are vague and few, to the point their absence is more painful than their inaccuracy. Not only that, she has no idea if her parents are dead or alive.
      • She later learns that her parents were not only still alive, but searching for her... but then the Battle of Coruscant Ward happened, and Akari's parents died. She's crushed to learn this.
    • Hayate also qualifies as the Stoic kind. Let's count: Parents died in a storm? Check. Made a Slave by the captain? Double-check. Crossed the Despair Event Horizon and sank the cruise with himself and everyone aboard? Triple-check. Survived the shipwreck? Jackpot. He may now live a peaceful life and wish to become a novelist, but Hayate still bears the scars of his cuffs, and he absolutely loathes the thought of killing.
