Heartwarming / An ordinary life

Go To

  • The second half of the first chapter is dedicated to Izuku's fate… and we see him patiently helping a girl overcome her Sensory Overload and finally leave her room after a decade trapped inside. Kishun's parents are overjoyed to finally get their daughter back, so much so that her father agreed to fund Izuku's workplace, Noraneko Foyer, so long as he and his coworkers keep doing their job.
  • Noraneko Foyer is officially a socio-educative residence for children and teenagers in academic failure. Unofficially? It is a Runaway Hideaway and Izuku is the legal guardian of every permanent resident, who are considered his students. The seven teenagers living there adore him and lovingly call him Sensei. All of them repeatedly state they owe Izuku their life and have an Undying Loyalty toward him. In turn, Izuku is both a Cool Teacher and a Papa Wolf toward them.
    • How deep does their loyalty go? Upon being told how the Paranormal Liberation Front broke Izuku's dreams of being a Hero, his students' reaction is to call dibs on the lieutnants. It doesn't matter that half of them are S-Class criminals. They messed with their Sensei. If they show up, they're dead, simple as that.
  • We are given descriptions of the past of each of Izuku's students. All of them suffered tragedy at some point, yet Aizawa notes that all of them, Izuku included, are remarkably well-adjusted, as if their past wasn't haunting them. This shows the positive influence Izuku and his students have on each-other.
"Noraneko Foyer. A haven for stray kittens. From the homeless and hopeless students to the dropout teacher, all but one had run from their past to start a new life there, and none of them had it easy before, not even Izuku. And yet, here they were, writing a story, drawing a treehouse, playing video games, doing paperwork like it was the most normal thing in the world. Like life hadn’t left its scars on them. The Foyer was their home, in more ways than one."
  • Ochako finally confessing her love to Izuku after several chapters of Ship Tease. When the next chapter begins, it opens on them waking up after Their First Time.
    • Izuku and Ochako may not be married (yet), but they are very much an Official Couple. As soon as she's back from Nishimeya, Ochako quits Ryukyu's agency to start her own with Tsuyu, just she she can be close to Izuku. The pair are often described being close and even intimate, and Izuku genuinely treasures Ochako's feelings, considering them as precious as his students.
  • Izuku and Ochako aren't the only couple in the story. Mirio and Tamaki are one as well, and we are even treated to their wedding. We are also told that Mirio adopted Eri as soon as he was an adult.
  • During the wedding, learning the truth about his expulsion sends Izuku into a violent Heroic BSoD. After Ochako comforts him, he comes back to the party and timidly ask his former classmates if they are still friends. They answer positively. Izuku's smile lights his whole face.
    • Izuku spent the past four years believing his classmates blamed him for the Class 3 Fiasco. As it turns, he couldn't be more wrong. Everyone's reaction upon reuniting with him is surprise, quickly followed by overjoy at seeeing him back.
  • During her month in Nishimeya, Eri is quickly adopted by Izuku's students, each teaching her a particular skill. Eiko, who is naturally brash and prone to bragging, especially takes to the girl and instates herself as a surrogate sister. In turn, Eri grows quite fond of Eiko and free-running is one of the skills she picks the fastest.
  • After the assassination job, Izuku and the others end up discussing his life choice, Izuku proudly declaring his current life as a teacher gives him everything he could ask for. As he reunites with Tamaki that night, Mirio makes a headcount and realises he, too, has a fulfilling job, an amazing husband, close friends and a lovely daughter. As he carries Tamaki to bed, he decides that his kohai is right: happiness is a loving family and he is very lucky.
  • Let's be honest: Chapter 14 is full of it. Between the domestic fluff with Mirio and Tamaki, and Izuku and Ochako, we also got Tokoyami finally recognizing Izuku and crying in his chest from sheer joy, the fact Izuku's lessons helped two teenagers previously suffering from Power Incontinence join U.A. and Hitoshi considering asking the handsome teacher in green for his number before being told said teacher is Izuku. The chapter ends with him bolting after his friend.
  • During a training session between Eri and Eiko, two Gen Ed students combine their powers to create a Pensieve Flashback. Izuku, Hitoshi, Mirio and Tamaki are stunned when they realize the free-running lesson Eiko is giving Eri is almost word for word and move for move a lesson her own father gave her when she was roughly the same age. Knowing Eiko is an orphan, Izuku is silently happy and proud his student is passing on her father's knowledge.
    • Before going back to Nishimeya, Eiko gives Eri her switchblade, which she used during her time in the streets, with the explicit purpose of protecting the girl like it protected her back then.
  • The Iidas end up requesting Eri's Quirk to restore Tensei back to shape. When Tenya sees his brother and realizes he is healthy again, he is beyond himself with joy.
  • Why did Yuga Aoyama go through all the trouble of joining U.A. despite his natural cowardice and his Quirk's drawback? Because he wanted to gain the skills to rescue Akari, who turns out to be his younger cousin. Big Brother Instinct at its finest.
  • Most of the class goes to Nishimeya to check on Izuku. Knowing how bad his memories of U.A. still hurt him, the group decides to enter in small groups, so Izuku can get used to them all.
    • Yuga Aoyama requests to be in the first group. No one argues against it, because they all know how much he misses Akari.
    • When Akari asks about Yuga, Izuku fondly remembers him, telling Akari that he was one of his friends at school.
    • Yuga and Akari's Big Damn Reunion.
  • Izuku finally asks Ochako to marry him. Ochako tackles him with a Big "YES!".
  • Knowing what Hayate went through, seeing him geek out over the new Smash Trailer cements in Izuku the knowledge that he is doing something right.
  • When Izuku and Akira encounter Dabi, Izuku invites the villain to lunch, gives his condolences for the death of Spinner during the Battle of Coruscant Ward and heals his burns, no questions asked. Though he doesn't turn off Dabi's nerve endings while doing so, meaning Dabi felt extreme agony, which Dabi (and the other heads of the Front) take as a power move.
  • Even though there is nothing romantic between them, Geten and Dabi greatly enjoy each other's company and share a tender moment when the later returns. Even Evil Has Loved Ones.
  • Knowing she isn't fit to be a mother, Izayoi relinquishes parenthood over Akira... and asks Izuku to adopt him. He accepts. Akira's last name is now Midoriya.
  • When forced to choose between surrendering Midoriya to the Commission and being declared vigilantes, the Aomori Pros unanimously decide to protect him. Because he is a key figure of the prefecture and they owe him way too much to give him up.
    • Also, Shoto standing next to Izuku when Endeavor comes to arrest him. For Shoto, his first friend ever comes before his father and the people that are theoretically his superiors.
  • In the aftermath of Izuku's declaration, a solid half of 1-A openly sides with him and joins the Aomori Pros, and even most of those who don't are supportive of his position.
  • When the story shows Bakugo, it demonstrates that he has grown up as well: he knows how far Deku has come in the meantime and that Endeavor had no chance of getting his way through, respects the hell out of him and wants to meet him so they can fix up their friendship after so long.
  • Yuga tells the people in his agency that he's closing doors to move to Aomori, and tells them he'll understand if they don't want to move with him. Everyone tells him they plan to join him.
    • Akari leaping into Yuga's arms after the entire agency arrives to Aomori. Yuga tells her and his parents that he didn't have to choose between Aomori and the League because he would pick the former any time.
  • Tokoyami not only sides with Izuku, he also gets Mei to save all of Hawks' hard-earned cash so he can leave the Commission that has kept him under a tight leash for most of his life.
Hawks: Why are you doing that?
Tokoyami: Because you're the one who taught me to fly, Sensei. I shall now return the favor.
  • After Izuku's meeting with the Aomori leadership, Ochako gently welcomes him back to Noraneko Foyer and tells him that he's always been a natural leader.
  • Shinso is stated to be the next to appear, telling Izuku that he hasn't forgotten how he was the first person to believe in him becoming a Hero, and now he can return the favor.
  • The Noraneko Foyer and Treetop Agency members having a Sleep Cute.
  • Izuku is amazed by Akira and Jiyu combining their Quirks to lift the monster of Tsugaru Strait and notes that, despite having taught them and knowing what they can do, there are still times they catch him by surprise. At the end of the chapter, it is All Might's turn to be proud of him for binding the monster and carrying it to the shore. His message makes Izuku squeal in joy.
  • Bakugo's relationship with Changeling. The girl is weird to say the least and the two are polar opposites. And yet, Bakugo still puts with her odd behavior and watches over her when she is in her head while listening to her when she makes sense. In turn, Changeling supports him by handling diplomacy and putting up with his own explosive temper, and is one of the few people who genuinely like him.
  • After learning Changeling was bullied for her Connection Quirk, Izuku has this to say:
  • Izuku and Bakugo talking and finally putting their past behind them.
  • After Bakugo has the word from the doctors about Changeling's actual syndrome, he goes to the U.A. teachers and berates them for not only doing nothing about it, but also about the girl's secondary Quirk. He takes his status as Changeling's big brother very seriously.
