YMMV / Alex's Mobs

Go To

  • Creepy Cute: The cockroaches of this game completely avert the Creepy Cockroach trope. Though their antennae movements are somewhat unnerving, their beady eyes and skittish natures make them surprisingly cute. You can even make them dance if you give one some maracas!
  • Demonic Spiders:
    • The Crimson Mosquito is a flying mob that utterly infests Crimson Forest biomes. It will suck your blood and then shoot it back at you, all while keeping a safe distance from you.
    • Rocky Rollers make their home in the hard-to-traverse Dripstone Caves and will use the terrain to their advantage, dealing heavy damage at a rather fast rate while you flail your sword in the hopes that you land a hit.
    • In earlier versions, Cave Centipedes were a nuisance at worst due to their slow movement. As of 1.19, they've been buffed to become Lightning Bruisers that deal the painful Poison III effect, quickly draining your health if you're not careful.
    • The Murmur is one of the most loathed mobs due to its very long reach, making it an effective ambush hunter. It also attacks at a fairly fast rate and can only take damage if the main body is attacked, and isn't pacified by the Unsettling Kimono despite being undead. It's also really, really loud. Unsurprisingly, many players opt to disable spawns of this mob entirely.
  • Goddamned Bats: The Skreechers, due to their ability to cling to walls and ceilings as well as their ability to cause The Warden to spawn. Unlike the other mobs above, they are offset by their inability to attack directly as well as their low health, having a whopping one heart.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With Lycanite's Mobs, due to the authors of their respective mods having completely different design philosophies.
  • Memetic Mutation: Frankly the entirety of the Discord server for Alex's mods, thanks to its... interesting culture.
    • Anything relating to the Mungus, due to its deliberate resemblance to the crewmates from Among Us, which itself is a Fountain of Memes.
    • The bear's straight, stoic face has become a popular reaction image to questionable events.
  • Nightmare Fuel: If you are afraid of insects, running into Cave Centipede can be quite terrifying, especially if it's the first time you have seen them. The fact that they're major Demonic Spiders only makes them even worse.
  • Spiritual Successor: This mod is considered by many to be the modern-day successor to Mo' Creatures, as it also adds a variety of mobs that make the world of Minecraft feel more alive.
  • Ugly Cute: The Mungus is a cyclopian relative of the Guardians with the Gag Nose of a Villager, but their earnest movements and funny noises endear them to many. Helps that they can help the player grow mycelium and mushrooms.
  • Woobie Species: Stradpoles are the harmless larvae of Straddlers that get launched at you against their will by their Abusive Parents. You can't help but feel bad for the little babies.
