The earliest known Concept Art of Lincoln (then named Warren) from when he and his family were rabbits.

Main series:

  • The series was initially conceived as being about a family of Funny Animal rabbits before Chris Savino was advised by Nickelodeon executive Jenna Boyd to make them human. In the pitch, Lincoln was named Warren (a Stealth Pun on the term given to a place where domestic rabbits live), and the sisters' names were going to start with "B" rather than "L". Oh, and Clyde was going to be a beaver. This would eventually work its way into the series as part of the plot of "White Hare", and Lincoln's original design as a rabbit can be seen in the form of his stuffed rabbit Bun-Bun.
    • Related to this, the show's titular pilot short (retroactively titled "Bathroom Break!!" since its proper airing) was meant to involve Warren trying to escape the house without getting caught by his sisters.
    • At the time, Savino had also considered about turning the Louds into mice because according to him, someone who saw the pitch apparently had an issue about the rabbits. In this version, Lincoln was known as Milton Fields; other than that, the overall premise and setting remained the same. Savino had published plenty of pitch bible images about this version in his former Instagram account, which can be currently seen in these two Reddit posts, plus a couple discussion posts on the show's Fandom wiki.
  • This concept artwork of the Loud siblings. Notable differences in it include:
    • Lily's hairstyle being taller and fluffier.
    • Lisa having dark red hair and a blue sweater with pink pants.
    • Lana wearing a red shirt. This appearance brings Mario or Emmy to mind.
    • Lola having her hair tied up in a ponytail with a pink crown and a bigger dress with a white sash.
    • Lucy wearing black gloves.
    • Lynn having a missing tooth and pants with a lighter, greenish-blue color.
    • Luan wearing a green scrunchie and a red flower on her sleeveless shirt.
    • Luna wearing a black shirt and a red skirt. The theme color change was likely because both colors she was wearing were already taken (by roommates Lynn and Lucy, respectively).
    • Leni having her hairstyle curved while wearing a light blue sleeveless dress and brown boots.
    • Lori having light purple eyeshadow with a white tank top and navy blue shorts.
  • Leni was originally going to be an eight-year-old Super-Strong Child, who would look extremely obese, like the character she was named after.
  • To keep with the "Sunday funnies" feel of the backgrounds, the colors were originally going to be painted in halftone. The idea was abandoned when it was found the dots would show up badly on the TV screen.
  • A prototype design for Lori's boyfriend, Bobby, has him looking droopy and calm.
  • Ronnie Anne's prototype design had her with red hair, a yellow jacket, pigtails, and peach-colored skin. Presumably, making her Bobby's younger sister was an afterthought. Additionally, she originally wasn't going to be Latina until series director Miguel Puga stated that it would help make her a more dynamic character.
  • According to Word of God in an episode of Nick Animation Podcast, before they decided on making Lincoln a middle child, there were several versions of the main cast where he was part of the older siblings, and another where he was among the younger ones.
  • Chris Savino planned to give a explanation for what caused Lincoln to get his iconic white hair. Following Savino's firing, this was dropped in favor of simply making Lincoln's white hair a genetic trait, having had it like that since he was a newborn.
  • The Mirror Routine between Leni and Luan in "Cover Girls" was originally to have Luna in Luan's place. Luna also completes her costume with Fake Boobs.
  • In the storyboard for "Lynn-er Takes All", Lynn's attempt to brush faster than Lola causes her gums to start bleeding, rather than simply losing a tooth in the finished episode.
  • The title card for "How Double Dare You" was originally of Lincoln covered in slime as he read off an index card.
  • According to storyboard artist Sarah Johnson, there was originally a scene in "Tails of Woe" where Stella, Lincoln and the others get detention for sneaking out. It was to be followed up by a scene of Lincoln saying they should clean the halls as a way for them to sneak out again and look for the music box. Instead, Rusty uses a delivery menu so that Principal Huggins' wig flies off and they can sneak back in undetected.
  • According to Ari Castleton's animatic for the "Welcome To Canada" song from "Schooled!", The Angry Beavers would've made a cameo.
  • In "Future Tense", the Loud family would've tried saving a dolphin before this was changed to a snapping turtle. Kevin Sullivan said this was because dolphins don't live in lakes.
  • Storyboards for the episode "Write And Wrong" showed that Rita would've worn gloves when she's in her housewife outfit.

The Casagrandes:

  • According to writer Sammie Crowley, the network attempted to have Adelaide, Sid's younger sister, changed to be an older brother until she stepped in and said otherwise.
  • Crowley stated in another tweet that Sid was meant to be Korean-American before being changed to Chinese-American, with her surname similarly being switched from Kang to Chang. In a bit of irony, Sid's dad is voiced by Korean-American Ken Jeong.

The Loud House Movie:

A Loud House Christmas:

  • According to Lisa's actress Lexi Janicek, the ending scene was supposed to have Lisa throw a snowball at Lincoln. However, Janicek's costume was heavy, and she kept slipping on the fake snow, so ultimately, the scene was rewritten to have Luna do it instead.
