¡Oye, Primos!note

"Hey, another day in my old hood
Summer's startin', and it's gonna be so good
Hey, oh hey, I was gonna be so cool
Then you all moved in and got me looking like a fool... again!"
Opening lines of the theme song

Primos is an upcoming American animated show from Disney Television Animation. It is created by Natasha Kline for the Disney Channel and stars the voice talents of Myrna Velasco, Melissa Villaseñor, Michelle Ortiz, and Jim Conroy.

The series stars a young Mexican-American girl named Tater Ramirez Humphrey (Velasco) who lives in Los Angeles with her family. Her plans to have the best summer ever are derailed when her 12 well-meaning but embarrassing cousins come to stay with her for the summer.

Will Tater's cousins get along with her to help her discover her true self?

The show is set to be released on June 6, 2024, immediately after the premiere of Big City Greens The Movie Spacecation.

The Theme Song can be seen here.

This show contains examples of:

  • Artistic License – Linguistics: The theme song repeats, "¡Oye primos!" (Hey, cousins!), which is grammatically incorrect in Spanish. "Oye" is used for singular form of nouns. Since the phrase addresses cousins (primos) rather than one cousin (primo), it should be "¡Oigan primos!" instead. Kline has confirmed that this is because Tater's Spanish isn't the best.
  • Author Avatar: Tater is based on Natasha Kline's experience growing up in a multicultural Mexican-American family, and her appearance is modeled after Kline's younger self.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: As shown in the opening, Tater is annoyed by her cousins, but you can tell she does care about them.
  • The Big Guy: Big Nacho is this among the cousins.
  • Big Little Sister: Nellie is almost twice Tater's height.
  • Clashing Cousins: Tater's beef with her cousins is that while she does love them, they can be rather chaotic.
  • Coordinated Clothes: Tere, Tabi, and Toñita all wear identical monogrammed dresses.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: A picture of Tater appeared in Kiff's Animal Kingdom Shorts Spectacular two months before Primos is set to debut.
  • Everybody Do the Endless Loop: When the cousins first appear in the opening, most of them do their own repetitive dance move. Lita, on the other hand, repeatedly strums one chord on her guitar.
  • Theme Tune Roll Call: Tater lists off the names of her cousins near the theme song's end. Apparently, she can't stand it.
