Garfield Originals is a French series of animated shorts based on the Garfield comic strip, which were produced by Ellipse Animation, the same company behind the previous Garfield animated series The Garfield Show.

The series presently consists of 24 episodes, each consisting of five vignettes related to the same theme. Nickelodeon acquired the rights to the series in their acquisition of the Garfield franchise, and the series can be viewed on the official Nickelodeon page here.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Good Outcome: In "Pumpkin Trouble", Garfield plants a pumpkin seed and becomes bored as he waits for it to grow. Odie passes by just then and pees on it, thus causing it to sprout into the size of a beanstalk.
  • Animated Adaptation: The third animated series based on the Garfield comic strip after Garfield and Friends and The Garfield Show.
  • Behind the Black: The fourth episode has Nermal attempt to wake up a sleeping Garfield, who turns out to be a cardboard cut-out propped up by the real Garfield.
  • Detachment Combat: Garfield cheats Dr. Liz Wilson's scale in the fifteenth episode by removing his tail, legs and head.
  • Gasshole: The first episode has Garfield, Odie and Jon burping for fun.
  • Impact Silhouette: The seventh episode has Garfield, Odie and several mice shot through a wall by a treadmill with enough force that they leave holes shaped exactly like them.
  • Jerkass: Nermal. 'Nuff said.
  • Jumping Out of a Cake: In the thirteenth episode, Garfield prepares to eat a cake and is displeased to see Nermal jumping out of it.
  • Oh, Crap!: Garfield after realizing that the Big Vicious Dog's chain isn't actually restraining him in the sixteenth episode.
  • No-Dialogue Episode: No-dialogue series would be more accurate, as none of the characters talk and only make vocal sounds such as laughter, screaming and grunting.
  • Urine Trouble: The sixth episode has Garfield plant a pumpkin seed. The seed doesn't grow until after Odie pees where Garfield planted the seed.
  • That Poor Cat: Heard in the eleventh episode after Garfield runs after Nermal.
  • Winged Soul Flies Off at Death: The seventeenth episode has a spider die and its spirit rise to the skies with wings and a harp.
