Mythed-Up is a webcomic by Maccus Normann about a version of our world in which creatures from Myth and Fantasy started to appear hundreds of years ago and now live openly among humans in the modern day.

The characters and world was initially started as a series of comedic TikTok animatics featuring characters who would be further built upon in the Comic.

The comic updates every Wednesday

Mythed Up provides examples of:

  • Alternate History: The world presented in the Mythed-Up universe appears to be very much like ours, except mythological and fantasy based creatures began to appear hundreds of years ago and society has (mostly) accepted them as part of society.
  • Amazon Chaser: Jax falls hard for May once he sees her pick up and throw down a cyclops who was rude to her.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Doubling as a Subverted Trope, The first strip of the comic shows what appears to be an enraged orc brandishing a weapon at a helpless elf, only to zoom out and show the orc is a flower shop owner chastising an elven skater for crashing into his shop's outside display.
  • Cyborg: Wyllm's partner is a Arcana-based cyborg with mechanical limbs, and possibly other augmentations.
  • Fantastic Drug: Sebastian, an aspiring drunk kingpin, manages to synthesize extremely potent magic mushrooms by keeping an unwilling Dryad in a highly drugged-up state and forcing her to grow them. According to him, the potency is unmatched by any other hallucinogen on the market. Before he's stopped, he's hoping that he can use a similar process to create hallucinogenic fruit.
  • Fantastic Racism:
    • Angel's parents, especially their father, hates demihumans, and reacted badly when Angel's Siren genes came in.
    • One store has imposed an additional fee for demihuman customers, supposedly to help deal with the issues of providing products for demihumans... despite the government already handling that.
  • Fantasy Kitchen Sink: There are numerous kinds of demihumans out there, from elves and orcs to sirens to gargoyles to samebitos.
  • Gorgeous Gorgon: Faith, a gorgon, is rather attractive despite the snake hair and petrifying ability.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Well, not exactly half, but Angel apparently has siren ancestry separated by a few generations.
  • Occult Detective: Members of the "DPD" (Department of Protection for Demi-humans) have shades of this. Performing investigations and sting operations against individuals or groups who abuse and exploit magical creatures.
  • One-Gender Race: All Sirens are female. When one mates with a male of another species, they either lay an egg containing a female siren, or they give birth to a male that shares the species of the father.
  • Point of Divergence: Something happened in the past that caused the Mythical and Magical to start bleeding into our world. What exactly that something is, we do not know yet.
  • Siren Song: Delia, being a siren, appears to be able to manipulate people by singing commands to them. Her primary use for this is to deter hecklers when she performs on stage. Angel, being part-siren, may also have access to this ability.
  • Superhuman Trafficking: People kidnapping and exploiting demihumans is common enough that there's an entire organization devoted to dealing with it. Delia's father Wyllm is one of their agents.
  • Supernatural Soap Opera: Storylines that take place in The Birdcage (a cabaret that employs characters of varying mythical species) tend to land pretty firmly into this trope.
